It's not only that they want to brag about their imagined brilliance. They are pretending that they have unfairly been cast out from society and therefore are victims. Bingo. Intelligence is demonstrable. If you have it, you don't need to announce it. This sounds more like a victim's support group for people who think they are "misunderstood" because of their "intelligence".
