Some residents push for tax plan alternative (Fair Tax Gaining Momentum)

Some people in the Roanoke and New River Valleys are fed up with the current tax system. Those folks met in Salem Saturday.

The Fair Tax event was part of a grassroots effort to spread the word about the tax alternative. This afternoon, Genie Hayes, grassroots director of Fair Tax, taught folks how to interact with the media and how to network and educate others.

She says the Fair Tax plan seems to draw backing from folks who fall between the current tax cracks and those who feel like they're being ripped off.

"It's a progressive national sales tax that completely repeals all federal income taxes so Americans get to keep all of their pay check and they get a pre-pay check every month so no American, no legal citizen pays any taxes on poverty level consumption," said Genie Hayes of Fair Tax

I suppose mods think that moving the thread out of NEWS in response to the bad posts discourages the bad posts. Of course, that only encourages it. They are allowing the trolls to control placement of threads.

It also means the trolls are becoming increasingly frustrated.

Of course.

Can't win the debate?...shut it down. Post an obscene pic, smack someone with a horrendous personal attack, get the thread moved out of view - or better yet get it deleted altogether!

Wasn't it you who was suspended for a week or something for complaining about the obscene pic being posted to you? And the obscene pic poster didn't get suspended?

How does that work?

So I come on this thread about a good article about the fair tax and am met with post #3 and post #4 being deleted by the mods. Is there any doubt that those who make a living off of our suffering (:life insurance salesmen, annuity salesmen, IRS employees, tax help programmers and salesmen, lawyers, lawyers, lawyers, lobbyists, tax shelter peddlers, 401(k) third party administrators, IRA salesmen, income tax professors, IRA trustees, and a thousand other professions) are here with a vengeance and panic knowing that the citizens are rising up and are going to CRUSH their careers and jobs.

Sorry guys. But we don't want the country to continue down the path to depravity that you have laid out for us.

Their tactics speaks volumes about themselves and their agendas.

A Taxreform ping for you all.

If anyone would like to be added to this ping list let me know.

John Linder in the House(HR25) & Saxby Chambliss Senate(S25) offer a comprehensive bill to kill all federal income, SS/Medicare payroll, and gift/estate taxes outright replacing them with with a national retail sales tax administered by the states.

H.R.25,S.25
A bill to promote freedom, fairness, and economic opportunity by repealing the income tax and other taxes, abolishing the Internal Revenue Service, and enacting a national retail sales tax to be administered primarily by the States.

Yes - it was me, but I have no idea what the rationale of that was and you're right - the other party wasn't banned.

One of those mysteries of life, I guess.

Wonder why they didn't just pull the posts and leave the thread where it was to see how/if it progressed?

I'm afraid I agree Principled. It makes us victims of our own success.

Why are you pinging me to this post? My job has absolutely nothing to do with taxes in any way.
