A handy too I recently found that opens links in a pop up window for IE and Firefox is called Browster. If you don't have a tabbed browser, it is handy for reviewing search engine results and FR type webpages.

And it costs $0.00.

This may be more in the line of an OSS ping than a tech one....

Ever try SPELLBOUND? What a pan to install. It's the Firefox spell checker extension. IeSpell for Internet Explorer is much easier

  4. Html Validator - Validates HTML - FR's 'reply' page has 0 errors, and 4 warnings
  5. LinkChecker - check a page for broken links
  6. MR Tech Local Install - manages xpi files and other things.
  7. NoScript - stops javascript on a per-site basis
  8. ShowIp - shows the IP address of the server you are connected to
  9. Tabbrowser Preferences - modify how tabbrowser works

How about a little indicator that shows when you have new pings or FReepmail? That would be a good extension.

NoScript is awesome.

Another extension I'd add to the list is Autohide. I couldn't live without that in full screen.

I can see why you would like that, but I prefer seeing by tabbar.

I’m trying to install video downloader on Firefox and this addon is an xpi extension. I don’t know how to open and install it. Firefox 2.0.0.1, OS Win2000 Pro, videodownloader-1.1.1-fx.xpi. Do you know what I need to do/install so I can use this feature?

Found some comments.....

Video downloader no longer working

As of 5 April the video downloader seems to have disapeared. I tried re-installing it but it's just not there. Anyone else having this problem? thanks.Comment by Donald Van Deusen made 6 days ago

The problem with this extension is that it uses the author website to download the videos, if the web site is down, the extensions won't work.

That the main reason I use Ook video extension to download from these sites, it doesn't depend on a website:

I see the effort you’ve put in to help me and I sincerely appreciate it. I’ve done all kinds of googling on the subject and it’s just too geek for me, since I’m totally ignorant of that end of computing. My computer doesn’t know how to open an XPI extension. So I looked for a program, which I believe they call XPInstall, to download that would know what to do with the xpi extension and be able to addon a component. I did a weather addon but it was an executable so there was no problem. I’ve seen all this info on the subject but there is no place for a chimp like me that says “do this, then do that, etc and you’re done”.
