According to today's news, Indonesians are "angry" at the US for not responding quickly enough with enough aid to help them recover from the most recent disaster (the earthquake) in an unbroken series of disasters.
Excuse me? Angry because we have not gone once again to save their sorry butts from the results of their government's corruption, incompetence, illiteracy, and criminality? When did we become responsible for their mess of a country? Apparently I didn't get the memo.
LOL! Spic English dammit!!!
Just doing the talk-o Americans wont do :)

FR has always been about picking apart articles in a search for the truth. Seems to me that's what is going on here
I lived in Indonesia for a year and Americans were generally very well liked. I took many cab rides and in my halting Bahassa Indonesia heard the same answer over and over again from the cab drivers. Per the Jakarta cabbies, they liked Americans best. And who did they like least? I got this anwer a dozen times over; the French and the Arabs.
Indonesia is one of the major fleshpots for the arabs. The arabs are apparently very abusive physically toward the Indonesian party girls and prostitutes. As for the French? Just rude and arrogant. They may have been saying that they like Americans best to incrase the size of their tip, but they had no self-interesting in singling-out the French and the Arabs.
I'll now dismount my high horse and try to find a source article on this. For, if the USA is getting dissed for not coming running to pull the fat out of the fire...well, it starts with the letter F
I am with you guys -- we need a source.
No blaming of the US by a country. Just a bunch of desperate people hoping for help.
I'm sure some reporter could find one anti_American type and get a quote ripping us. That still doesn't mean much however, even if we read a quote like that.
I have a vacation home in Bali, part of Indonesia, and have been married to an Indonesian woman for over 30 years. I haven't lived in Indonesia for decades, and until we built the house in Bali back in 2002, I hadn't visited Indonesia much for decades.
I have to say that by and large Americans are very well regarded in Indonesia in general and in Bali particularly.
There are a lot of things to genuinely like about Indonesia nand Indonesians. But, the place is not beyond criticism. There is still too much corruption. The Muslim radicals are still present, although with very much waning influence.
Indonesia has had more than it's share of natural and man-made disasters over the past several years, which Indonesians have taken in their stride. Indonesians are grateful for the ssupport of their neighbors and freinds, locally and around the world.
I can tell you for a fact that they are generally very well aware that they get miniscule help from the Muslim world, and what they do get is often preachy, condescending or crackpot advice.
They know that the US is a friend they can count on. Ditto Australia and UK.
