Gale Holland, LA TIMES newsdesk: "If something newsworthy happens, we'll cover it"
phone conversation, 4-14-06
If the mainstream media cannot figure out why they are going the way of the dinosaurs and the Whigs, perhaps a little encounter with Gale Holland can serve as but a small example of the problem.
On Monday, I called the LA TIMES, and they connected me to Gale Holland at the newsdesk. I let her know that a trial date was set on the previous Friday for defendant Bill Clinton, et al in the historic civil lawsuit of Peter Paul.
Holland, not surprisingly, knew nothing about it. I had informed the TIMES before the hearing, but apparently a reporter could not walk a few blocks to attend. Until about the last three minutes, I was the only observer at the hearing.
CONTENTS OF THE FOLLOW-UP MAIL TO HOLLAND:
Gale, it was a pleasure speaking with you. As the writer and co-producer of the documentary film about the financing of Hillary's 2000 Senate campaign, I will be glad to get your staff up to speed about this story.
There is a wealth of information on http://hillcap.org/
On Friday, Judge Aurelio Munoz ruled in favor of David Kendall's anti-SLAPP motion and removed Hillary as a defendant in the case. The decision will be appealed by Gary Kreep of the United States Justice Foundation -- (760) 788-6624.
Munoz made it clear that Hillary would have to testify and that any motion to try to prevent that would be "dead on arrival." He then looked up and said, "Did you hear that, Mr. Kendall?"
Trial has been set for March 27, 2007. Depositions are being arranged. It is expected that both Bill and Hillary could be in Los Angeles answering question under oath within 60 days.
This will be one more of those famous L.A. trials. Witnessess will include Chelsea Clinton, Cher, Diana Ross, John Travolta, Brad Pitt, Mike Wallace, Larry King, and a host of others.
The political implications of this trial are enormous. Hillary has given a declaration with which Peter Paul has a great dispute. It is almost as if she hardly knew him. That is simply not the case. Also interesting is that Stan Lee, creator of Spider Man, was unaware that he is listed as a donor of $225,000 on the fourth "inaccurate" FEC report by the Hillary Senate 2000 campaign. He has testified under oath that he gave no money. The campaign still refuses to acknowledge the huge amount of money given by Paul. That is because Howard Wolfson, Hillary's campaign spokesman, had said in August of 2000 that Hillary would take no money from Peter Paul. She has stood by that falsehood for over five years.

==================================================
I called the newsdesk at about 4:45pm today and there was Gale, working hard late on a Friday afternoon at whatever it is she does. Being a real newsperson is not one of the things she really does.
I identified myself and the conversation we had on Monday, saying that I was surpised that I had not ready anything in the TIMES about Bill Clinton having to defend himself in the civil trial and that Hillary was going to have to testify.
Holland was immediately defensive. She said that she checked and there is not a trial date. I responded that I was there and heard Aurelio Lopez say that the trial date was 3-27-07.
Holland said that I was using the term wrong; that Bill Clinton was not a defendant. He was a party. He is not on trial.
I tried to again explain that he is a defendant in the business fraud civil trial. Even though this was a very short conversation, Holland was already growing weary. Maybe she had to get out of there to get her hair done, buy a ham for Easter dinner, or go pick up her kids from an illegal alien babysitter, but whatever it was, she no longer wanted to talk.
She then said in a somewhat impatient voice, resonating with a touch of mild arrogance, that she had talked to national. "If something newsworthy happens, we'll cover it!" Before I was able to call her a worthless Clinton shill, I heard the CLICK.
There it is folks. I've called AP reporters in New York, Los Angeles, and Washington D.C. I've called ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN, and FOX NEWS. I've called Tim Russert's producer, Wolfie Blitzer's producer, and Chris Matthews' producer. I've called several newspapers. I left a message with Hannity's producer. I have spoken with the entertainment press. This morning, I even left a message for a guy in the comic book press. Yes, I really did. Actually, that comic book magazine is a more credible news source than the LA TIMES.
A former president is going to have to defend himself in a massive business fraud lawsuit. A sitting senator will be forced to answer questions under oath. Al Gore, Ed Rendell, Gray Davis, and a host of others will be deposed, including Streisand, Pitt, Cher, and Travolta. But this is not newsworthy.
The story has only been seen on WorldNetDaily, NewsMax, and the NY SUN. Oh, and Tony Snow gave me 60 seconds at the end of his show on Wednesday (I think it was Wednesday).
I think I'll try to get through to George Noory tonight on the whackjob Coast to Coast show. Maybe he'll listen to my story about how I live in a parallel universe.
Civil Suits and the Clintons? I remember something about blue dresses and pants suits but civil suits?
God Bless you, Doug, for what you are doing for our FRee Republic.
Persist, persist, persist! Above all else, persist!
gale.holland@latimes.com Thanks for asking.
Doug - your day will come. It will be a pleasure rubbing this in the MSM faces.
"The story has only been seen on WorldNetDaily, NewsMax, and the NY SUN. Oh, and Tony Snow gave me 60 seconds at the end of his show on Wednesday (I think it was Wednesday)."
Townhall.com picked it up, too.
Do you have a link to the story?
BTTT
It came to me via e-mail and I've done several searches on Townhall.com and the Townhall Community to no avail. This is the only one I could find ( from 2003)...by Michelle Malkin: http://www.townhall.com/opinion/columns/michellemalkin/2003/06/20/169931.html
So, here it is again...without solicitations:
HILLARY CLINTON MOVES CLOSER
TO ANSWERING FOR FRAUD
Dear Friends,
Many people see Hillary Clinton as a charming and compassionate woman. She is depicted as a helper to the helpless and champion of the underdog. But, today, her wool suit is shrinking to reveal a very cunning, yet deceptively personable, wolf beneath. And even those from Hillarys own pack are beginning to expose the truth.
Hillary has been forced to testify in a civil law suit in California brought by Peter Paul, the largest single campaign contributor to her 2000 Senatorial campaign. Paul has turned from a close associate of Bill and Hillary Clinton who underwrote the Hollywood Salute to President Clinton in 2000, to a whistle blower exposing the corruption and lies that were an underpinning of Hillarys election to the Senate.
Hillary Clinton is desperately trying to avoid being put under oath and forced to testify about her involvement in the 2000 fundraiser for her Senatorial Campaign underwritten by Peter Paul. She has summoned every resource at her disposal to avoid making statements under oath about her knowledge of the under reporting of more than $700,000 on her campaign finance statements. The strategy of her high power Washington legal team, led by David Kendall (of Bill Clinton impeachment defense fame), is simple: delay as much as possible Peter Pauls Civil suit and sacrifice the small fish associated with this wrongdoing.
Hillary Clinton is a candidate to return to the Senate in 2006 and a most likely a candidate for president in 2008,
In addition, The United States Justice Foundation is going to DEMAND that the U.S. Justice Department hire a Special Prosecutor to investigate the allegations against Hillary Clinton.
This is the LARGEST CAMPAIGN FINANCE FRAUD IN HISTORY. Quite frankly, they hope that we simply run out of money to keep the suit going.
The United States Justice Foundation recently won an important appellate court decision, denying the motion to have Hillary Clinton dismissed from the case. This follows our victory several months ago of the denial of a motion to have the entire case dismissed.
As the United States Justice Foundation has dug deeper into the allegations made by
Peter Paul, it has become clear that this is a scandalous conspiracy one that stinks of corruption, illegal acts and perhaps even a high-level cover-up.
While we are winning, the cost of holding Hillary Clinton to the rule of law is expensive. VERY EXPENSIVE. Nobody is above the law and we must get Hillary and Bill Clinton under oath and on the record. Under oath, they will have three choices: perjure themselves, tell the truth about their involvement, or plead the fifth amendment.
(omitted)
Thank you!
Sincerely,
Gary Kreep
President, United States Justice Foundation
Good job, Doug, for doing your part to keep this out in the open!
I applaud your tenacious perspicacity. Clearly, the Clintons and their operatives within their media "plantation" cannot outwit or out-wait you.
Re the LAT, I saw nothing in the Sacramento Bee about the trial either.
As a sidebar, I canceled the America-hating Bee a couple of months ago - - at they STILL keep delivering it. We've called and e-mailed, but still it comes. The Bee even called to ask why we canceled (our offspring wear the uniform, and we are offended daily by the anti-military, anti-American, pro-leftist social instruction).
Sidebar, continued. I tried to sell an auto with a Bee ad last year. Two weeks on ad produced only one (1) inquiry. Later, a few days ad in the internet site Craig's List, and we had non-stop inquiries, and auto sold in a few days.
Clearly, the Bee's circulation numbers are in descent mode (why else would they prop it up artificially with comp subscriptions?); and, smart advertisers might want to consider options to the daily paper.
.
Thanks for the ping Blurb, I keep an eye on these threads.
That a former president has a trial date for a major business fraud and that a sitting senator being deposed is an incredible story. Yet, it has only been reported by NewsMax, WND, NY SUN, and for about a minute on Tony Snow. That is astounding. Oh, I spoke about it on Mr. KABC last night and Tammy Bruce a few minutes ago. But that's it.
Thanks for the ping.
Doug, your effort and work is as important as anything I have read in 7+ years on the forum.
It directly affects our future. Thanks.
Thanks to Peter Paul, Stan Lee and everyone else involved.
Wow. Thanks for the kind words, PG.
Correction. I keep doing this --- the judge is Aurelio Munoz, not Lopez. Sorry.
