LETS GO AFTER THOSE THAT HIRE ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS
3/28/06 | BOB HARAN

Posted on 03/29/2006 1:59:58 AM PST by Bob Haran

By Bob Haran; The recent marches in opposition to Rep. James Sensenbrener’s bill, H.R. 4437, that would make it a felony to be in the country illegally, has raised a question in my mind.

Why don't we make the people responsible for causing people to enter our country illegally, felons? Congress should amend H.R. 4437 and instead of making it a felony to be in the country illegally, make it a felony to illegally hire someone in the country illegally. To make people who are for the most part, law abiding, into felons, is ludicrous. Why does our government refuse to go after the real law breakers, the employers that illegally hire and profit from using undocumented workers?

Let's enforce all our immigration laws.

Not a chance. We all want an end to illegal immigration but not at the expense of a higher bill.

Obviously the old standards in Florida led to a lot of damaged roofs.

I'd try steel frame ~

We managed to cut welfare rolls in half in 1997.

You are making an argument for increasing the numbers allowed in as legal immigrants. Might I suggest that we can get all the folks we need, with degrees too, without bringing in more Mexicans and Latin Americans.

The market will fill the voids. Nodoby needs to resort to breaking the law, under ANY circumstances.

The market can't gill the void, that's the problem. People are only having 1 or 2 kids and sending them to college. Our population is aging. There are simply too few Americans who want to are are even able to do physical jobs. The idea that there are 10 millions of able body Americans willing to do physical work is a total myth. The people to do these jobs simply do not exist at any price.

yeah, I see them everyday here in Ohio. Smoking cigarettes, wearing jewlery and new clothes, using medical cards, food cards....the beauracies actively recruit and encourage people to be on the welfare rolls. Could this be why they do not want to work? mmmmmmm?

And the only solution is to import a permanent underclass?

Hey, there are a lot of problems in Ohio. Guns, for one ~ the judges don't want you to have 'em.

You get started cleaning up that place and we'll talk about welfare, but later.

In the meantime, compliance with the law concerning hiring illegal aliens would be much appreciated.

If these welfare Americans were doing these jobs there would be no jobs here for the the illegal aliens. What's that got to do with guns or me being in Ohio?

It was recently reported that we have experienced the greatest increase in people recieving government assistance since the start of the "Great Society".

You could suggest it, but I know it is not true. There are not 10-20 healthy American youth out there that are willing and able to do these tough physical jobs at any price. Like it or not, without illegals most of these jobs would not get done. Lousiana will not get rebuilt without the help of immigrants.

Hardworkers do not stay underclass for very long.

Don't we still have minimum wage laws and laws that require withholding and remitting taxes? As much as I detest both laws, they are still the law. Audit the books and then prosecute those who are violating the law.

A Cat 4 is a Cat 4- a steel frame might stay together (if it stays attached to the foundation), but that roof is prolly going for a flight, even with hurricane straps! Block or monolithic concrete might be better, but again, that roof is the weak link.

The market always adjusts to the realities. Right now, there are plenty of roofing companies that have moved to Charlotte because of Charlie, and to the panhandle because of last year's season. More are starting every day. If the illegals weren't here, more Americans would be hired.

The pro-illegal crowd likes to point to the presently skewed market and say "could you imagine if things were different! Look at all these illegals- how would we ever get anything done without them!" That's awful logic. SOMEONE would be doing it! The market would just be structured differently. So what?

The demands of the market would be different, and the supply would be different. Everything would be fine without these people. It always was before, and it always will be. The free market works every time.

Your post #66 is about Ohio. It drifted away from the "national" topic. I really can't help it if you let this happen to your thinking, but if you want to discuss Ohio (and it's numerous welfare queens), then we can do that of course ~ but I'll drag that over to your gun problem first.

Louisiana will get rebuilt with my tax dollars.

At the same time I resent your attempt to blur the distinction between "immigrants" and "illegal aliens". The "illegal aliens" are not "immigrants". "Immigrants" obey our laws to get in.

Who will you get to do the work the illegals do?

We get the people who have normally done those type of jobs since the USA began: the recently arrived LEGAL IMMIGRANTS who come to America to start their dream.

New immigrants have always started at the bottom and thru hard work and enterprize, they've been able to move up and create a better life for themselves and family.

Furthermore, if we find we need more people to perform menial new immigrant type jobs, then we can slowly raise the levels of people we LEGALLY ALLOW into the US each year.

But this insanity of rewarding those who have blatantly broken our immigration laws is just that: INSANITY, and it will not only lead to balkanization, it will lead American into third-world status as MILLIONS AND MILLIONS more people suddenly stream across the borders so that THEY TOO can get on the illegal gravy train without any penalty or consequence for breaking the law.

Just as in Star Trek, I see immigration as the PRIME DIRECTIVE of all American laws. No other laws will have any meaning whatsoever if we do not first enforce and follow the prime directive, which is that all people who enter the US must be legal.

That must be the beginning of civilization as we know it.

AI Domes, in Florida, has all the business it can handle. Their roofs stay on ~ I suspect they'd be useful in Indiana also (surviving tornados).

The answer is simple.

Get rid of welfare. Hungry people have an odd habit of finding work.
