With the Abramoff scandal prompting Democrats to charge that the Republicans in Washington are mired in a culture of corruption it is perhaps the wisest of the left who remain silent, passively condoning the ultra-partisan activities of their leadership. There are good reasons for many elected officials on the left to choose to remain silent. One of those reasons is that one never knows when something from the past is lurking in wait. One of those elected officials from the Democratic side of the aisle is the junior Senator from New York and former First Lady, Hillary Rodham Clinton.
That Clinton is positioning for a run at the White House is a given. Her re-election to the Senate is almost a lock. She has made such an obvious attempt at moving to the center and in concert with her husband, the ex-president, making statements that track him moving more to the progressive left each time he opens his mouth that it would be surprising if she hasnt already received a solicitation letter from the Republican National Committee.
Senator Clintons position is furthered along by the fact that she has been involved in so many scandals, both legal and political, that any mention of impropriety or misconduct especially in light of the indictment of Former House Majority Leader Tom DeLay (R-TX) and the resignation of Randal Duke Cunningham (R-CA) is viewed with a yawn and a, So What? Thats politics in Washington, isnt it? Hillary Clinton has proven to be her partys version of the Teflon politician.

Hey Doug, thought you would want to see this.
Maybe it is wishful thinking on my part that Hillary won't get the nomination.
Because I would be a nervous wreck thinking about her winning and what would happen to this country if she does.
My husbands crystal ball tells him it is going to be Murtha.
Good guess. Murtha is a popular and powerful 'rat.
He is also not too far from where I am now. I think his home base is Johnstown, PA. About 50 miles away.
It is almost as if the devil has taken the Clintons under his wing. They do seem to lead charmed lives.
Here's a menu of the seven articles in this series. A must read!
Thanks for the ping!
You did just fine. Kindly include me in the list of those who you alert to any such future posts.
It may be to her advantage to hold off for four more years. If she believes that would be useful to her [primarly in a sense of fundraising and *party unity* following another *seven dwarves* Democratic primary fight] that'd both put her in the frontrunning as a candidate, and let her sieze control of the party leadership from Howard Dean as well- and she learned to compile all the political strength she could from a master [no, not slick Willy!]
That maymean that instead of running against the Bush-favoured Republican nominee this time around, she does so against that same face, but after four years of such damage and backbiting as the Democrstic press can provide...and after 12 years of Republican rule, just as Billy took the office after 8 years of Reagan and 4 of Bush I.
With four more years of fundraising, and another chance for the Edwards/Kerry/Gore/whover wings of her party to exhaust their efforts and finally dash their hopes out against the Republican frontrunner, she can emerge, fresh and ready to be her party's saviour in 2012.
That is not to say that she WILL not be a candidate in 2008, if she feels conditions are right. But if she is not, it'll be in 2012 and the preceeding intirm that things will get REALLY interesting.
Ask him what his crystal ball has to say about candidate Murtha's VP choice.
Let's see: the old-line Chicago and Boston Dems seriously resent the young southerners [hillbillies] from Arkansas and points thereof who lost them both the White House [Gore] and numerous congressional seats and gubernatorial offices. And the Hollywood money goes where they smell at least a possibility of success.
*Bringing the party back together* is going to be a BIG deal, whether it's Hill in '08 or otherwise. It'll need to be someone with a proven record not just in the house or senate, but probably there AND in a previous executive position as well. And expect a squeaky-clean public image to offset the comparisons between the Clinton Organized Crime Family and Kerry the self-made war hero.
We may not yet see the face emerging in that crystal ball. But we can guess what it will look like, and, more to the point, what it will not.
The 'rats don't look like they have any strong front-runners for the nomination yet. Looks more like the same old recycled bunch of morons.
Except maybe for Murtha.
He says it says Feingold.
Murtha/Feingold
or
Feingold/Murtha
The 'rats are strong in PA because of 'rat nests like Philly and Pittsburgh. Throw in Erie too.
Otherwise it goes red.
too old
