Guess who leaked the DP World Email?

This whole situation with P & O, DP World and Eller & Co is just so bizarre. More twists and turns than a pretzel factory... Found this article, "Dubai accused of lying on ports", buried deep in Internet search land.

Remember the email that was "leaked" to the media that implied that DP World was not going to sell its US assets? Guess who the leaker was? (no it wasn't Sen. Rockefeller)... None other than Eller & Co's own lawyer, Michael Kreitzer. Kreitzer said "we're making this public because we think Congress should do what it planned last week - to pass a bill to specifically disavow the Dubai company from owning a US port operation."

This really takes the cake. Here is the company that went on a massive propaganda campaign against the Dubai firm and literally slandered the company with its hate speech. Then it turns out that Eller & Co had an ax to grind with P&O and recruited Schumer to play lead puppeteer in the Congress. Now Eller & Co is considering an offer to buy out operations from DP World in Miami and possibly at other ports. I am no lawyer but this has to be a crime...

Meanwhile, SSA Marine in Seattle, the largest US based port operator, had been planning to accept DP World as its joint-venture partner at ports in Philly, Wilmington Delaware and Camden NJ. SSA was a partner in those ports with P&O. The VP of SSA, Bob Watters, saw "no security issues in having DP World as its partner at the three East Coast ports." Watters also said "All the same people were going to be in place to run the business, so we had no concerns about security."

Now keep in mind this is the same kind of deal that Eller & Co were going to have with DP World in Miami. SSA had no issue with security, no fears of losing customers because DP World was an Arab company or any of the other excuses that Eller & Co with cohort Schumer spewed all over the airwaves. Imagine that - Eller & Co and Chucky were making it all up...

Port facility operators have a major security responsibility, and one that could be exploited by terrorists if they infiltrate the company, said Joe Muldoon III. Muldoon is an attorney representing Eller & Co., a port facility operator in Florida partnered with M&O in Miami. Eller opposes the Dubai takeover for security reasons.

"The Coast Guard oversees security, and they have the authority to inspect containers if they want and they can look at manifests, but they are really dependent on facility operators to carry out security issues," Muldoon said.

The Marine Transportation Security Act of 2002 requires vessels and port facilities to conduct vulnerability assessments and develop security plans including passenger, vehicle and baggage screening procedures; security patrols; establishing restricted areas; personnel identification procedures; access control measures; and/or installation of surveillance equipment.

Under the same law, port facility operators may have access to Coast Guard security incident response plans -- that is, they would know how the Coast Guard plans to counter and respond to terrorist attacks.

"The concern is that the UAE may be our friend now ... but who's to say that couldn't change, or they couldn't be infiltrated. Iran was our big buddy," said Muldoon.

The sale of the Peninsular and Oriental Steam Navigation Co. to Dubai Ports World was nearly complete in January, when a lobbyist for a small Florida shipping company launched a long-shot bid to derail the deal. The Florida company was concerned about the sale for business reasons unrelated to security. The lobbyist, Joe Muldoon III, put together a white paper arguing that the deal could compromise U.S. security, then started working the halls of Congress. Mr. Schumer was an obvious choice for Mr. Muldoon. The Senator has been demanding more money for port security for years, and the deal would affect Mr. Schumer’s home territory. In late January, Mr. Muldoon gave a Schumer aide, Josh Vlasto, a copy of his white paper. “I have to say, I didn’t even ask them to go public on this,” Mr. Muldoon said, adding that he still hasn’t actually spoken to Mr. Schumer. There really was no need to ask.

I've looked for links between Eller and DNC candidates as well as Kreitzer's firm but have so far, not been able to find them. I'll keep digging when I have time.
