I am not going to have children, so why do I have to pay school taxes that I will never use?
I'm never going to have a hysterectomy, why should my taxes pay for medical studies that benefit gynocological medicine?
"I am not going to have children, so why do I have to pay taxes I will never use?"
Answer: Who paid to educate you?--AND, Do you really wish to live in a society where the great unwashed masses run the streets in ignorance?
That's it. No Social Security for you!
The upshot of the article is that educated children become productive adults who benefit all of society as workers who provide us with needed goods and services, as neighbors, as taxpayers, etc. So following that logic, you will benefit from paying those school taxes, inevitably and substantially, albeit not immediately and directly..
On the other hand, if we could just de-fund and crash the public school system, kids would be educated by private schooling, church-related schooling, and home schooling, and the outcome might be even better.
Especially if you still find a way to make your fair contribution.
You pay taxes for other people's kids because it is in the long range interest of the country as a whole to have an educated populace.
Yes,I know that our current public school system is failing drastically in that regard so my statement to you is mostly theoretical.
