Dreyfuss: Dreaming of An America-Bashing Utopia

Actor and Democratic activist/contributor Richard Dreyfuss, who after 9-11 claimed a “lack of clarity” as to America’s reasons for war against terror, yesterday promoted an America of intellectually sophisticated children, unhampered by allegiance to any particular viewpoint.

Speaking before the National Press Club, Dreyfuss lamented that adults are often “victims of political hypnosis,” and decried parental tendencies to pass on their political views to their children. Instead, America’s children need only be handed the tools of “reason” and “logic” to be “ sovereign.” He sniffed, “How do we not guarantee our gods will be our children’s gods?”

Dreyfuss also wants a controlled discourse in his ideal America. The first intellectual topic he suggested the media raise is to instigate debate for impeaching President George W. Bush. “It’s not your job to impeach [the president], he told the press members, “But to maintain the integrity of that debate.” Although he’s all for opening up the impeachment debate, Dreyfuss opposes those who would openly question the patriotism of any liberal who spews venom against the war or this country, no matter if it’s a Dixie Chick or Michael Moore. “Democracy,” he said. “relies on people’s thoughtfulness.” http://www.californiaconservative.org/?p=2326

I watched the last 3 minutes or so of this speech. It was well thought out with a clearly stated noble goal. I was nearly brought to tears.

Of course, when I say "tears" I mean "nausea". And by "clearly stated noble goal" I'm saying "veiled plea for pinko-ism."

While spewing limousine liberal rhetoric in front of a presumably receptive audience at the National Press Club last Thursday, actor Richard Dreyfuss's lack of eloquence reached a degree of incoherence that cried out for psychiatric treatment.

On the topic of angry leftists' daydream of impeaching President Bush for not sharing their views, the self-described "'libo-conservo-middle-of-the-roado" Dreyfuss declared, "There are causes worth fighting for even if you know that you will lose."

His seditious ramblings touched upon America's strangely unreported withdrawal from the Geneva Convention, the commonplaceness of torture in this country, and the unconscionable practice of eavesdropping on terrorist communications before stumbling upon the topic of those who might disapprove of his counterproductive bloviating. At this point, Dreyfuss left the English language behind, and lapsed into Jabberwocky

JAWS STAR.S WAR PROTEST

Actor ROY SCHEIDER staged a bizarre peace protest in the Hamptons - a fashionable resort in America.

The JAWS star was the leader of 75 protestors who staged a mock funeral procession down a main road in the town of Sagonpack on Tuesday morning (18MAR03), causing a brief traffic jam.

Scheider and friends dressed in all black and carried white coffins bearing anti-war slogans, led by a veiled woman cradling a folded American flag.

The protestors then lay down in a dead pose beside their caskets, causing a 45-minute traffic jam.

Scheider says, "This war is insane. (American President) GEORGE W BUSH is doing everything he can to make you look unpatriotic if you disagree with him.

"This is fear-mongering. Now I am really afraid of terrorism. I wasn't before."

PATTI.S PEACE RALLY MARRED BY TROUBLE


A peaceful New York anti-war protest led by outspoken punk star PATTI SMITH was marred by controversy on Thursday (20MAR03) after 91 people were arrested.

JAWS star ROY SCHEIDER also took part in the four-hour rally, which winded its way through New York from Times Square to Washington Square Park, and then became troublesome when hundreds of protesters refused to leave the park.

They spilled into the streets, blocking traffic and causing riot police, who were sprayed with mace, to take action.

Roy Scheider - in the movie (Blue Thunder?) our hero shoots down a USAF F16 with his magic helicopter - I remember three idiots in the theater who leapt to their feet cheering.
