Anybody who thinks FR rises up in unison over much of anything hasn't read the site for longer than 45 seconds. :-)

I didn't think anyone read the HuffyPost. I thought that's were the pseudointelectual crowd went to pat each other on the back and tell each other how smart they are for posting there.

from their hatred of freedom of the press to their horror of toleranceThat statement alone is so fatuous and so blatantly false that it would be silly to even consider going over there to read the rest of it. Is all of the content on that site similarly insipid and intellectually bankrupt, or is it just that material by "Gene Stone" is so lacking?

I just posted the following over there:
In terms of commentary that sometimes is overheated and beyond the pale, I dont think that either side can claim advantage over the other. As a proud FReeper, I welcome debate with those on the other side, but only when the debate is based on facts, rather than rhetoric. I dont think anyone (including myself) is proud of everything they ever posted on a political forum, and I am famous for blowing up at Liberalism on a constant basis.
But that said, let me issue the challenge. If the administration of Free Republic will allow it, I would be happy to debate THE FACTS with anyone on the left at anytime on our forum. I feel confident that if someone from the left were to visit Free Republic without the prerequisite foul language, hyperbole and utter disdain for the truth, it might be possible for both sides to learn something more about the other.
Practically every negative mentioned about Free Republic can be echoed in spades regarding Democratic Underground. I do not think you can find anywhere near the anger, inaccuracy and pure unmitigated hatred for the opposition as you can find on DU, Kos or others like it. Maybe that is because we are winning, and you on the left have nothing else with which to vent your rage.
The large majority of FReepers are Christian in their beliefs if not always in their online behavior. But I make no apologies, but wish to remind those of you on the left that a mirror held up to your own behavior would make no one proud. It would be easy to quote dozens of items from members of the left that go way beyond what you might see on FR in comparison.
I neither support nor believe in the homosexual lifestyle or agenda. Does that make me anything other than different from you folks on the left? Some would argue either side, but I wont. I am just as entitled to my beliefs as anyone else. As long as my beliefs do not injure or deprive you of your rights, you will just have to deal with them.
Love is love, and neither the Left nor the Right has an exclusive deal on it. I am sure that any respectful Democrat, Liberal or even a disgusting Moderate wishing to enter into a lively debate on Free Republic would be welcome. I dont run the site, but I have been a member long enough to know that this is true. Can a Liberal debate without slinging invective or calumny? I doubt it.
Anyone who visits FR regularly knows that we seldom agree on much; accept the soundness of Conservative principles. I frankly would LOVE to hear a Liberal tell me just what is wrong with our current levels of Unemployment (since I wont hear that on the news) or our nations fiscal growth.
So, bring it on.
But just remember the old saying: I dont swim in your toilet, so please dont pee in my pool?
That works both ways.

Oh man, the lies and self delusion in the comments alone:
I have never read a progressive or liberal blog, article, or rant extolling death, destruction, the wished-for loss of rights, or the anger over medical research.- Posted by: ShawnMichel on February 05, 2006 at 01:19pm
Yeah, sure pal.
Liberals at least criticize their own once in a while. Look at all of the anger directed against HC for her flag-burning nonsense or against BC for his recklessness in messing with Monica when he knew the fascists were watching - Posted by: dawlishgal on February 05, 2006 at 03:32pm
Bwahahahaha! Liberals were criticizing Bubba for being reckless in his relationship with Monica? I recall the exact opposite: They circled the wagons around Bill and defended his behavior!
