In his memoires, one chapter is named "Kosovo" In that chapter, Yeltsin is chritisysing milosevic, and descriving Clinton somweath as hawk, threatening that "Milosevic is about to kill thousands of people" and that soon 2,5 million (!) people would be turned into refugees if NATO wouldnt interfere.
Clinton husteled Yeltsin that "Milosevic will destroy liesons between West and Russia (!) if NATO don`t attack
MOST IMPORTANT FOR USA:
Yeltsin talked with Shirac, he explained to Yeltsin that USA stand is that USA is in charge in the world, and that France is against it, but for time being, USA have power to do so, but France belives in diferent future!

Serbs wern`t only betrayed side in Clinton`s agression in 1999
United States were betrayed by their president, and later by their allies, 3 years later.
Yeltsin says that that was decisive.
While Yeltsin was reconcidering (well, he washes himself from Clintons idiocy) NATO atacked.
Yeltsin is actualy doublecrossing Clinton, actualy not standing up against war, than when attack on Serbia is allmost underway, Russia is stabing Clinton in his bac, saying that "NATO is entering 21st century in World`s Cop uniform", adding that "If war lasted for 2 more months, Russia would certanly intervene due to enormous domestic pressure, destabilisation of Russia (actualy Russians wanted Yeltsin`s head). Communists actualy allied with nationalists in Russia and wanted to support Milosevic, separatists became louder.
Yeltsin`s book, reading between the lines is actualy by my opinion showing that "Emperor Boris" led NATO, Clinton and Blair willingly into Balkans trap, promissing support between the lines, and actually leting them to deal with something that Turkish Sultan, Austrian and German Emperrors and Hitler couldn`t deal with.
Simple math said, Failed sofar, and this shall fail.

Yeltsin is talking that Clinton was urging him to support action against Serbia. Clinton claimed that Milosevic is up to destroy relations between USA and Russia, that is killing Albanians etc.
Yeltsind didn`t wanted to brake ties with USA, and silently supported Clinton, claiming that Clinton gave argument good enough.
Yet, just days before war, Yeltsin stabb Clinton in his back.
Russia will secretly support war, but offitialy condemning NATO
Yeltsin than discovers that war is not going to end as soon as Clinton thought.
"Russia would intervene in war if it lasted for 2 more months" said he.
During the war,
Shirac is also stabbing Clinton in his back, saying that USA is up to be world leader, and it is too powerfull to be challenged, but France is for multipolar world.
This chapter shows that war was not about Serbia, but about evryone else trying to push USA into mudd, to achieve their own separate goals.

Excellent analysis. But Yeltsyn should have defeated the Chechnyans completely during his term...and he did not while he had the chance.
May I add that the Muslim Turks held on to the Balkans as long as they did precisely because Russia (Czar Peter et al) could not get the West to support the struggle against the muslims.
The Balkans survived the horrors of 400+ years under Muslims...and for that we are grateful to the heroes of resistance. The Serb, Greek, and other Christian martyrs are forever blessed.
