Sinking Like A Stone (ABC's Commander In Chief)

Sinking Like A Stone

One of this year's most heralded television series was ABC's Commander In Chief, starring Geena Davis. The show depicts a woman President and is generally viewed as a commercial for Hillary '08. It got all the fanfare one could imagine, and at the recent Golden Globes awards, Davis won the Best Actress statuette. One problem, though: the viewers aren't buying it. Media Life reports:

Commander In Chief’s Geena Davis may have walked away with the Best Actress in a Drama award during Monday’s Golden Globes, but among the American voting public she's sliding in the opinion polls that matter most, the ratings.

They've been on a steady decline for the once-promising freshman show.

“Commander” averaged a 2.4 rating on Tuesday night, an all-time low for ABC's political drama. That’s down 14 percent from the previous week’s 2.8 18-49 rating, its second lowest, for the show’s first original episode to air since Nov. 29. And it’s down substantially, 38 percent, from the show’s 3.9 season-to-date average.

Even the addition of a powerhouse producer like Steven Bochco early on in the season couldn’t halt the show’s decline. It peaked in its second week out, with a 4.8 rating, and has not come close to that level since.

I'm not about to pose as a TV critic; not only have I never seen Commander In Chief, I've never seen any show now appearing on television, other than news, sports, HGTV, What Not To Wear and American Idol. The last three reflect the influence of my teenage daughters, but, for what it's worth, I've never heard them mention Commander In Chief. Stacy London, yes; Geena Davis, no. So it looks as though, once again, the American public has sniffed out liberal propaganda and turned up its nose.

Can't be too hard on the liberals... they need their fantasy world (de plane, de plane). Oh, I forgot, they actually live in a fantasy to begin with. Therefore, TV to them must be real to them... scary thought!

Indeed not. Her opportunity to become the first female President of the United States died on the 11th of September, 2001, along with some 3,000 odd people. That datye marked a paradigm shift which is *still* being measured as to what its effects will be, but one thing is certain, the "Clinton Era" has definitely ended...

“Commander” made Newsday’s Worst of 2005 list. “While this show has become a moderate-sized success -- with 17 million suckers tuning in each week -- that doesn't overrule the fact that ‘Commander’ is often silly, sophomoric and utterly improbable,” wrote Verne Gay.

"silly, sophomoric and utterly improbable,”

Then it *is* a commercial for Hillary.

I watched about 30 seconds of it once and was totally underwhelmed. What is the hook? Why would anybody watch this show when "House" is on opposite it?

Hollywood thinks it needs to enlighten us and educate us.

I bet next there is a TV series based on Brokeback Mountain.

A liberal woman is going to make the country better? If they can get off their beef about guys being the evil sex, they might get a chance to be heard. As long they are in that frame of mind, fudgitboutit.

You got that right! HOUSE is the best! I live for my Hugh Laurie fix, the show is great. I won't be watching anything else and now that Idol is on as well, ABC can forget about my viewership.

Oh well. Emily Deschannel of "Bones" has moved to Wednesday night. She's really good to look at. I mean a woman forensic scientist. Call it "Beauty And The Bones."

Gay sheep herders from Wyoming is a small demographic. What they will do is send the sheep herders to NYC to help Queer Eye for the Straight Guy buy woolen goods.

I'm sure most of them were quite normal.

American Idol has gotten aboard the 'Brokeback Mountain' bandwagon early by selecting a little homo cowboy from Wyoming who sings to turkeys to be one of their contestants.

The value of "Commander in Chief" is that it makes it VERRRRY easy to point out to even the MOST brain-dead DhimmicRAT that the MSM is fundamentally a RAT propaganda machine. This makes it slightly easier to combat draconian 1st-Amendment quashing measures such as the threatened re-imposition of the so-called "Fairness Doctrine."

Hollywood thinks it needs to enlighten us and educate us.

Have they considered simply entertaining us? Then they may get some of their audience back. Instead they feel like every show has to push an agenda.

What's so wrong about a show that's entirely built around the fact that a president could have a vagina? I thought it would be a smash;)
