OK, new thread for the next week.
First, a big shout out to the SETI and BOINC members who have added CPUs to the effort. Remember, its Team 36120, NOT Team 0.
Next, congrats to all for bumping our team up to 384 processors and 192 user names. We have a number of new users in the team, with nearly a dozen folders now from GetLoaded.com all popping onto the hit list this week.
Special mention to Klutz Dohanger, who has quietly volunteered 80 systems to fold. That is 20% of all of the Free Republic Folders systems actively engaged in research. He is on a pace to pop 100,000 points personally before the end of January.
Malsua, uriah, Ken in Texas and Andrewksu are solidly in the top 10. Malsua is continuing to add (fast) systems and is now the number two folder on the team. Andrewksu will be the next member to hit 10,000 points. Great job!

As we continue to grow there are a number of milestones coming around the bend:
Top 600 by Monday
Top 500 within eight days
Top 400 within three weeks
We have 430,000 points so far. We will reach:
500,000 points by Thursday
750,000 points by Jan 24
1,000,000 points in early February
Thanks again to all that are helping us advance science and promote the peaceful use of computers.

Hey woman, why don't you fire up a cig and come on over to help us fold!
I've had to wait quite a long time for my points to show up after some WUs.
Honestly - do we really have a troll in our folding group?
rank # 134 Where_are_my_marbles,_Nancy? 600 1
Dummies want to drop points on us, I've got no issue with it. Probably can get the removed, shrug.
That's why I didn't toss a workstation at their team number, with an "annoying" username.
While it might have been fun to see the apoplexy on their faces, all it would have done in the end, is pad their stats.
I wouldn't worry about it, unless something obscene or really obnoxious shows up, in which case, I'm sure Stanford has some kind of protocol in place for keeping the team and user listings at least PG13 :)

Seems his numbers are bigger than all of the above !!! ROFLMAO !!!!!!!!!! Klutz kicks the crap out of DU !!!!!
My thoughts exactly. They also immediately pulled from the team as soon as the WU was delivered(note number of cpus/delivery time etc) so it certainly was intentional. They also got a pretty large pointer in there. Maybe we should we could encourage more of that :). Not that we need it and frankly anyone who's ever known a person with degenerative brain disease(Alzheimers, strokes, brain injury, etc.) will note immediately that the person is a flaming shitbag not worth stomping out. It wasn't even very original. Heh, what a sad sack.
Hey, at least they delivered a 600 point WU to us, instead of a 46 pointer.
Very true :).
I guessed it was a troll because they had 1 active CPU for that WU, and none currently running. One-time thing to get the name there.
They apparently haven't yet discovered the link to look at which folds are worth which point values. They're still thinking that a 100000 frame, just HAS to be worth more than a 500 frame WU...
Lord help us if one of their rocket scientists over there discovers "advanced methods".... :)
well... thank you smurf... *bow*
It's called delegation of responsibility. You guys handle the contribution to science, I'll keep the dummies in check... :)
"You know how good it feels to have your points counted...."
Yeah - did Seti for years - no team - just me - almost joining once or twice. It was ho hum.
Now I can't wait to get home and plug my work laptop back in to the net and crunch. Today I lost a 3 million stepper it had been working on - core shutdown File_IO_error - get another WU and continue on. gnuts!
I think it is wise that our kids learn that this is not a perfect world. Screw-ups happen - sometimes we are effected negativly - it's part of being human. The lesson is how we REACT to the negativty. If we can get to where we let it go and move on it will serve us well in life ... if we get hung up and stand and point at what is holding us back ... to what end? Life is short ... there will always be a bad call by the umpire - let it go and continue going for the gold.
In WWII - over England and the Channel - the pilots defined "nits" and "problems" - a "nit" was a heater going out and so forth - not mission critical - a "problem" was loss of oil pressure .. etc.
Don't let "nits" become "problems" - one may be cold and shivering - but what is the mission?
So - tout this program to your friends - and let them know that as other things in life it is not perfect - but worthwhile. You don't need to shelter the kids - a few hurt feelings give you something to work with and grow them stronger and I bet you can shine there.
And then watch "Top Gun" again.
With compassion
Bob
