Hmm... I had the best night of sleep in weeks last night. I think it was because I finished off a bottle of Riesling wine. Tonight will try another bottle of wine with my dinner. I'm not much of a wine drinker but if drinking wine helps me to sleep better, I might make wine a regular part of my dinner diet.

This how Kerry got beat last election. Trying to make Bushes guard service an issue is what got Kerry beat the last election. It is a dead horse and the sooner we get off of it the better. With the quality candidate we had in Kerry and the issues that he was so qualified to deal with, we wasted it trying to talk about Viet Nam and Bushes guard service instead of the issues that really mattered. I think Rove and the Republicans suckered us in on this matter knowing that it was a dead end street. We did just what they wanted us to do and it worked for them. IT FLAT PISSES ME OFF JUST TO THINK OF IT.

You have learned to control your fear. Now, release your anger!

Just because someone manipulated the facts doesn't mean there are no facts or that we have heard all of them.

This is the logic they use in their day-to-day living and they can't figure out WHY they're unemployable outside of Starbucks, Spencer Gifts or Record & Tape Trader!

What CBS offered was TRUTH, pure and simple.. I KNOW because I was THERE at the same time. I specifically went and dug out some of my old documents to check and I was very nearly going to post them at the time except I didn't want Freepers and the like to be spreading my info (again) and threatening me or my family - basically I don't want to go to jail for killing one of these assholes if they are stupid enough to bother me too much

No paranoia in THIS DUmmie's family, he got it all!

I absolutely love this. It was Rove's fault that very time kerry opened his mouth, "when I was in Viet Nam" came out.

This guy that claims to have been in the USAF in the late '60's is a liar. I was in at that time. I have hundreds of documents and not a single one of them has superscript. I have orders for every unit I ever was in and they all have 377th or 6314th for example as opposed to 377th or 6314th. The reason he won't post them is that they don't exist.

Forge some docs and lie away

I believe I can lie

"The other thing that we had in that report that people don't mention is the first ever interview with former Lt. governor Ben Barnes, who talked about helping Bush get into the guard by making a phone call."

Make that Travis County Democrat Ben Barnes, who offered nothing but his own assertions (and no documentation) some 30 years after the supposed fact. Not that I would even imply that this would possibly affect Barnes' credibility...

PJ, on a side note, for someone as far-gone delusional as Mapes, is Bolshevik red still appropriate? Maybe some other color should be employed for these extreme cases.

I'll give the DUmmies credit for one thing... they do recycle. Paper, plastic, old fake news stories...

>>her book bombed bigtime

amazon.com:
Amazon.com Sales Rank:
Today: #15,824 in Books
Yesterday: #37,541 in Books

Some reviews are the typical liberal lies about how great it is, four stars, five stars! But also: "This is a loser. She should get together with other people who write these books that are full of lies like Joe Wilson's, Richard Clarke and Cindy Sheehan. Don't waste your money on this stuff when there are some really good books out there."

Also: "And now she's whining about it.
We could sum up this book thusly:
"I live in a world where sloppy journalism and slander can cost news producers their jobs! And it's all Bush's fault! WAAAAAH! WAAAAAH! WAAAAAH!"

Oh, put a sock in it. . ."

And "It is interesting to read the book and at the same time the independent investigation commissioned by CBS. Ms Mapes continues with her own "spin" when many of her supposed facts have been shot down by the inquiry. In addition she has a habit of omitting items brought up in the inquiry that show her in a very poor light."

Should be filed under Fiction?

Another review condemned the "one star" reviewers as not having read the book. I'd bet the four and five star
reviews it got were from libs who hadn't read it, that's
for sure!
But some other reviewer also "gets it": "There's a good reason that CBS hung Mary Mapes out to dry and put Dan Rather to pasture: the documents are forgeries. She can't prove them to be true, not in her endless interviews promoting this book nor in the book itself.
In the past couple of years, our "Mainstream Media" has become a hilarious comedy of errors. We're not too far from the madness of Paddy Chayefsky's brilliant media satire, NETWORK. "

former Lt. governor Ben Barnes, who talked about helping Bush get into the guard by making a phone call."

Are they referring to the same Texas Air National Guard that was running want ads for pilots in the Air Force Times? That Texas Air National Guard?

The TANG wanted former active duty USAF pilots at that time but couldn't get enough of them because the Air Force was keeping all the pilots they could at that time. The airlines were getting a large number of those who got out as many didn't want to go back to Vietnam and thought the ANG would be an easy way to get sent back. Most would have went back if called, but they weren't going to volunteer for it.

The best option for the ANG was to train their own pilots. A Yale grad in good shape was just the kind of person they were looking for.

was in the Air Force at the same time as Bush and worked in Purchasing, and Finance, and every damned section on every air force base I was attached to and I saw a LOT of Typewriters and LOT of documents, and I can flat out tell you that ALL of these documents WERE available in those typefaces with the characteristics shown by CBS.

Show those original documents/orders to the press and you'll have a wedge to pry open the rest of the story.

What? You don't have any, you're just going on memory? Oh okay, never mind, DUmmie... You have a wedgie, instead.

So I guess that means people like Al Franken, Joseph Wilson, Richard Clarke, John Dean, Bill Clinton and John Kerry have no credibility either? <

I believe this is called getting it right for the wrong reasons.

These people are mentally ill. They literally CANNOT move on from Vietnam. A war their draft dodging pervert of a President didn't care about but they can't get enough of John Kerry's 4 month "heroism".
