Just thought I’d give everyone an update. My uncle’s been posting all over the site, trying to explain himself, and I respect that. He’s really a good uncle, but I just think he’s wrong politically, and that’s what I called Rush to discuss. I don’t know if my parents know about all this yet, but I’m guessing they do. I may be wrong. I plan on surprising them with the Rush 24/7 membership as soon as I get that info provided. I’m really enjoying spending time with my family during the holidays, and I hope this doesn’t strain our relationship. I really just wanted some help. I didn’t intend to “demonize my family” as my uncle suggested, and I think I made it clear that I have a good family, who may not agree with me, but loves me. I invite my uncle to continue posting here, and I will try to answer what I can. Please don’t hate him because he’s an independent (who has some liberal views, even if he doesn’t like it labeled that way). I’ll keep you up to date.

I'd wondered how this was going- other than a "welcome" to Justin, I couldn't think of anything to add to Rush's surprisingly sound advice- then a hardware failure bollixed up the main PC and its backup Monday, so I've been limping along trying to get back up to speed.

It's all to easy to get caught up in the sometimes-hot rhetoric that flows on forums and blogs and BBS's, and forget that liberals and Democrats, even, come in different flavors and varieties. The wife-unit here was a self-described "New Deal Democrat" until Kerry spooked her into registering Republican in 2004... and we never had a serious argument over politics. Agree on most things, and let a few things slide as not worth the fuss.

Your family is more important than politics- not that politics isn't important, as the direction we head determines how much of your own money you get to keep, and how many laws and regulations will impinge on your freedoms.

But at the end of the day, you don't go home with the Fox Newsroom- you go back to your family.

That was a great call, and RT - Be strong. My son is 20, and politically somewhere between Rush and Goldwater (We're so proud!) Remember - it's Your Life... make the best of it regardless of the philosophies that surround you.

Sometimes it's tough, but you should always cut family a bit more slack (even when they're crazy libs), unless it's a Catlady Aunt that gives you Goodwill socks for Christmas.

Just back off a bit, remember, like Rush says, 'Conservatism works every time it's tried.'

It just takes a while sometimes. You'll have better relationships showing the positive effects of being Conservative--than trying to tell people.

Libs are often angry hurting people. Be kind and show them a better way-that is what Christmas is truly about.

Not a matter of being too busy. More a matter of severe exhaustion. I should be OK tomorrow but still operating on half burners right now.
