If you are smart, you will skip "The Family Stone," a dreadful movie about a "loving," hippie-style left-wing family fighting with their son's mean, conservative, uptight girlfriend, played by Sarah Jessica Parker.
The pot-smoking family consists of, among others, all the politically correct elements: a swearing, way-too-sexually-open mother; a gay, deaf son and his Black boyfriend (and their Black child); and a film producer son who lives in Berkeley.
Painful to watch. I wish I'd walked out. Wasted time from my life never to be redeemed. This "movie" was just plain awful.
Thanks...I won't bother seeing it.
LOL! Great comment! That's how I've always felt when I've gone to something like this, but I've never known how to express it. I do now.
That said, when I saw the previews for this movie, I got a distinct whiff of lefty actor/director-think.
Definite chick flick, pretty obvious plot endings, a few funny bits. Of course, who has the perfect relationship amongst all the ones in the family? The deaf, gay brother and his oh-so-sweet and PC nice gay black guy.
As a man, I found myself ignoring the movie and just watched Rachel McAdams, who is amazingly attractive on the silver screen.
Got dragged into seeing it too, I wish I had read this first.
People actually left the theater, it was so preachy.
It was much to sad for me.
