I am pinging some of the "experts" to your post, as I am not certain. I do believe a step and a frame are the same thing, but I am very new to this.
I'll demonstrate my naivete - is the console version you are using the one where you have an icon in your system tray in windows? You can double-click it to view the program status/working? If so, I guess I am using the console version as well!
The console version runs in an MSDOS window, with no graphics. The Windows version piddles away a little of its processing power by showing you that rendering of a molecule. Not much, but I'm cheap.
