And he keeps pistol in "her bedroom"? i.e.""I immediately ran to my daughter's room, got a pistol"

Not particularly unreasonable. It might only be a one bedroom duplex. I know I lived in one of those for awhile, with a daughter slightly younger than his was at the time. Even if it was a two bedroom, those places generally don't have much closet space, and stuff tends to get stored in the kids room, at least until the kid accumulates enough stuff of her own that needs to be stored.

Kicking in someone door and be hazardous to your health.

Murdering a K-9 officer looks like it won't turn out to be very health for Cory.

The result is that they yell "Police" and take the door down simultaneously without any wait. If the raid occurs at the prime time (early morning hours when most are asleep and not alert)then it's pretty easy to see how accidents occur.

This guarantees that the homeowner will be asleep at the point that they yell "Police" and it will not register. All the homeowner will be aware of is a loud crash and masked men charging into his home

Yes, sometimes in cases like this, the Cop killer really is a paragon of virture, as a matter of fact.

The two other people in the duplex, one a juvenile, were taken into custody, but later were let go

They took a one year old into custody?

What the MSM fails to grasp here is how fortunate Mr. Maye is to still be alive, having to live in a town with such overzealous, and now apparently unaccountable, cops.

This case sounds shaky. A young Black man with no criminal history, in a small southern town, shoots the police son of the local police chief in a drug raid "gone bad". No drugs are found in the house. Why aren't the NAACP or Jesse Jackson and company jumping all over this one and trying to get more information and/or fight for this guy?

That's an excellent point. If the NAACP is about what they claim to be- this ought to be red meat for them. Might be worth popping over to their website for a search to see if it is mentioned anywhere.

As for Jesse- I don't think that there's any money in it for him- so I'll be surprised if he lifts a finger.

It is rather amazing that the NAACP or someone has not highlighted this case. But it has recently started being discussed at TalkLeft.

I can not find any Mississippi Appellate court decision on this case on the State's web site [http://www.mssc.state.ms.us/]. Anyone know if the case has been reviewed by an appellate court yet?

They should have left it at the scene?

Maye was the only one of the three shooting

Right. We know that one of the three is an infant. It's safe to assume the second person is the infant's mother. So what's your point? Did you expect the infant to be shooting too?

Were the police on an revenue enhancement activity - such as the WOD?

The police/law/military establishment is attempting to open up a new profit center that they can expand into. The "Temporary" Flight Restriction set up around DC on the eve of the Iraq invasion has not been rescinded. And worse, they're now talking of adding "TFRs" around many other major cities.

This, despite the fact that GA airplanes have NEVER been successfully used in a terrorist attack, and considering that most of them carry less weight than a VW beetle, they can't be used in any big attack. Mohamed Atta wanted to do such things, but he's dead.

I believe that the "Right to Assemble" in the constitution gives me a right to travel virtually anywhere in this country, in any conveyance that pleases me. I assemble, with my fellow pilots, in the air. Genuine security requirements and safety exceptions would be allowed, but this "TFR" is over the top.

The AOPA has forced the FAA to hold hearings on the issue next month. Anyone interested go to www.aopa.org.

After the officers announced their presence,

Announced their presence in unit #1, found nothing, moved to a side door which was actually unit#2, entered forcifully while not announcing their presence or identity perhaps because they thought it was the same unit, officer shot by tenant in unit#2.

Cory Maye, 21, one of three people at

On second reading, it sounds like they are lumping the two sides of the duplex together. The other stories state that Maye was alone except for his very young daughter.

"Southern Justice. Father was police chief, I lived in the south and justice is for sale. Cops and Judges are crooked."

You got it! Since according to the story they found NO drugs and nothing else in the house or the other apartments they were out on a search and destroy. If the story is correct this is totally wrong and should be redone. If there was drugs in the house that would be a different story. But there was NONE and nothing else so a break in occurred and the people breaking in got their just rewards and an innocent is being killed because of it.

It's safe to assume the second person is the infant's mother.

It's a self-serving assumption.
