You got it! Since according to the story they found NO drugs and nothing else in the house or the other apartments they were out on a search and destroy. If the story is correct this is totally wrong and should be redone. If there was drugs in the house that would be a different story. But there was NONE and nothing else so a break in occurred and the people breaking in got their just rewards and an innocent is being killed because of it.

Just because the cops didn't find the drugs doesn't mean there weren't any. Amongst the three young man, one of them could have had enough time to dispose of the drugs during the shootout. Yong criminals aren't stupid to be caught with the drugs. They know an unexpected visit could happen at any time and they must be prepared to dispose of their drugs in seconds. I believe this is what happened in this case.

Also, the innocent man you talk about is not about to be killed - he's already dead. Unless, you don't consider the life of a young police officer an innocent life.
