Cool, I just put my extra machine in there. It's an AMD4000+ 64 with 2gb of ram. That should help some.

I have been using Folding for a while. How do I join? The FAQ says to add the team number on the configuration page, but I don't see any place to enter it.

Will FR get my existing work units?

Sorry to be anal...but is there a security risk to a machine doing this? (I didn't see a FAQ...but I'm pretty dense.)

Glad I found this thread.

I started the FR F@H group over a year ago. All of the (old) computers listed are friends of mine that let me maintain their systems.

Uriah has one screaming machine. He has already broken top 10 in only a couple of weeks.

I had joined this on my own a few days ago. So I added myself to the FR team. I suppose it will update what I've done and my name when I download the next packet. I let my computer run it 24hrs a day.

No degradation in computing as far as I can tell.

By design, the software will use IDLE CPU cycles. The software will work your CPU like nothing else - overclocked CPU's / memory will be pushed to the limit. If the software frequently dies then back off on the overclock. An average WU on a FAST machine will take about 2 days - on a slow machine a WU could take weeks. There are several different cores that are processed - each having it's own demands. The GUI interface and the screensaver version are slightly slower than the plain jane console version - which can be installed as a service - which is then up anytime the OS is up - so more folding is occurring.

On Intel machines, it's better (for Stanford and the project) to NOT use hyperthreading/process dual WU's. Hopefully some great research will become available thanks to everyone's effort.

A F@H beta-tester.

Bump! Finished my first WU last night - working on #2 now... this one has 450 less frames, heh... but the time per frame is much longer. Glad to see FR Team moving up!
