In the Taliban's Afghanistan, women could not get gynecological care. See, women were prohibited from showing themselves to a male gyno, but women gynos were prohibited from practicing medicine.
Just a right-wing BS bogeman, huh?
On the other hand, the Soviet Union was famous for the $3 abortion (it was a sliding scale: somewhere between free and three bucks), so there's little doubt why the reactionary left loves them so much.
Oh, I don't know. Little things, I suppose: Not being able to enjoy the fruits of one's labors; lack of incentive; bad economy; government control of all aspects of life; suppression of freedom of speech, freedom of the press, freedom of association, and freedom of religion; widespread corruption; brutal murderous treatment of dissidents; human rights violations; the KGB; gulags. . . .
Like I say, little things, but they add up. Maybe I'm nitpicking.
Welll....what are you waiting for? Castro needs sugar-cane cutters NOW!!! They'll work you to death and may God have mercy on you if you complain, but hey, you'll have free health care! Your health care just won't be as good as what Castro gets.....
Communism as a bogeyman is being supplanted with "Islamism" and "Islamofascism," etc. Same old right-wing BS, just a different name.
That why his excellence Fidel 'el caballo' grovelled for absolution before JPII. Now, with a clean slate I understand he's converting to Islam.
Is there a Li'l Kim doll available in stores? Would love to own one.
LOL!
Good one PJ!
Happy Thanksgiving..
Dummies are DUMB about communism,too..Hmmm no shock there.
Stalin and Mao have slain their millions, but Bush, Bush . . . well, come to think of it, Bush hasn't slain ANY of his own people. Whoa! We'll have to rethink that one. . . .
It's funny. Our Russian roommate was reading the DUmmie comments over my shoulder. She got an attitude in a hurry. She's old enough to remember the "wonders" of communism.
She says that they should try spending a half day standing in line to buy a loaf of bread that costs a half weeks pay. Or they could try to complain and find themselves yanked out of line to go home and be hungry.
JANE FONDA on communism:
On November 21, 1970 she told a University of Michigan audience of some two thousand students, "If you understood what communism was, you would hope, you would pray on your knees that we would some day become communist." At Duke University in North Carolina she repeated what she had said in Michigan, adding "I, a socialist, think that we should strive toward a socialist society, all the way to communism. " Washington Times July 7, 2000
On July 18, 1970, the People's World, the West Coast's Communist Party publication, carried a telephone interview with Fonda in which she said: "To make the revolution in the United States is a slow day by day job that requires patience and discipline. It is the only way to make it. . . . All I know is that despite the fact that I am one of the people who benefit from a capitalist society, I find that any system which exploits other people cannot and should not exist."
Fonda made the following statement at the University of Texas: "We've got to establish a Socialist economic structure that will limit private profit-oriented businesses. Whether the transition is peaceful depends on the way our present governmental leaders react. We must commit our lives to this transition ...... We should be very proud of our new breed of soldier. It's not organized but it's mutiny, and they have every right." Karen Elliott Dallas Morning News December 11, 1971
And goodboy is first in their sights! They're gonna wash his mouth out with soap, dress him in a nice little suit, and make him go to church every Sunday.
I would also recommend Gulag by Anne Applebaum. Despite being a Pulitzer prize winner it is still very informational.
Almost as great as the War on Ferrer! :0)
BEWARE OF PLUTOCRACY!
