I hate revisionist history.
There is an excellent book on the subject of Communist photo manipulation (as well as Nazi manipulation): Making People Disappear : An Amazing Chronicle of Photographic Deception (Intelligence & National Security Library) by A. Jaubert.
Unfortunately, I seem to see many more copies of The Commissar Vanishes by David King which looks quite similar but omits the chapter on North Vietnamese propaganda (and I think the one on Cuban communist propaganda). I guess it isn't PC to point out flaws under those commies.
Those pictures are amazing. I had heard about them, but had never seen them. Absolute power corrupts absolutely, and Communism is absolute to their society.
