Reality vs. Twisted Reality in The Abortion Debate (a response to Martin Frost)
Jared Pozarnsky

Martin Frost recently wrote an article on abortion

in which he started with the sentence, “For those of you who consider all abortion to be murder, you should stop reading now.” With that one statement he demonstrated not only his lack of moral principle, but his inability to think rationally. It is amazing to me that someone of his mental capacity could have ever served in public office.

Let us pick apart the many absurdities contained in this one seemingly simple statement. First of all, the statement itself is meant to be tough in cheek. As if this view on abortion makes a one completely idiotic from the start, and those who hold it must be religious lunatics that possess no intelligence. Mr. Frost thinks that if we can just get the Jesus freaks out of the debate, we will have a reasonable chance at solving the problem through some sort of compromise.

Secondly, if his statement did not say “all abortions” it would have at least made sense. If a person believes certain abortions to be murder, it is hard to comprehend how he or she can distinguish some not to be. Unless there is some new form of handgun-toting fetus out there that must be killed in self-defense, it is hard to look at the unborn as anything but innocent victims in the procedure. No matter the cause, or circumstance. This brings us to the main argument ALWAYS used in any pro-abortion defense, “Well what about in cases where the mothers life is at risk... or rape or incest?” From his own article Mr. Frost acknowledges the fact that a mere 2% of abortions in the U.S. today are due to rape, incest, or the life of the mother. Yet, this argument constantly comes up in defending ALL abortions. There may be a significant amount of people out there who believe all abortion IS murder, but many of those same folks would also concede the rape, incest, and life of the mother “right” to abortions. These situations don't make the unborn child suddenly guilty of something, but let's concentrate on the other 98% please. The 98% that are simply convenience issues.

Mr Frost's article continues with another classic liberal approach. The “all Christians are hypocrites” argument. He states that every year roughly 40% of U.S. abortions are had by Christian women. Now, I just love this number. There are so many problems with this statistic, and how it was obtained, it could be a complete book of its own. However, let me just point out that 80% of Americans will call themselves “Christian” if asked. However, I doubt that when the day of judgment does come there will be only 2 out of every 10 of us standing around in the scorching heat wondering what went wrong. Many look at this question along the same lines as “Are you a good person?”. Hitler would have answered yes to that one. My point is that a poll does not reveal where people's hearts are committed. I will certainly ask the Creator Himself, as soon as I get the chance, where his opinion on abortion falls. And if I were you Mr. Frost, I would not bet on him saying, “Well if you want to have sex with impunity, and not have the burden of a child to slow down your education and career, I understand.” Frost's goal with this 40% statistic was to point out that although Christians preach against abortion more than any other group, they sure like getting them as much as the next person. MY point to Frost is twofold. One, your number is unreliable as I explained above. Two, we are ALL hypocrites, otherwise there would have been no need for Christ in the first place. Think on it.

Frost goes on to quote other meaningless statistics like, the fact that only 8 out of 10,000 abortions are “partial birth”, “most of the time” the plan B pill doesn't cause an abortion, and most abortions are performed in the first trimester. So what? Is 8 out of 10,000 babies being delivered alive and having their brains sucked out, not too many? Mr. Frost, murder is murder is murder. It doesn't matter why I killed the baby, or when and how I did it. It was done. There have been 40 million abortions since 1973. While I have no doubt as to the where-a-bouts of those innocent souls, there are many folks out there who are going to have a lot to answer for one day. And Mr. Frost, you demonstrate why someone with no moral compass, cannot and should not opine on a deeply moral issue.

God Bless you, my man. God Bless you!

. . . and may God have mercy on Mr. Frost's soul.

Thank you for your excellent analysis. I agree with you wholeheartedly and I truly believe that a majority of Americans do too. Pro-aborts love to play with statistics and I just can't believe the numbers that they put out. Support for "choice" is eroding steadily. Keep praying that we will see an end to this slaughter soon.
