The powerball lottery next Wednesday will be for $340 million. Thats more than 1/4 of a billion (with a B). The cash option is 164.4 million, which means that the winner, AFTER TAXES, clears approximately $100 million.
Now my question is: what would you do with $100 million?
You'd go on the "Squantos World Tour to Stuff G-Strings!"
I would buy 30 building lots in one of the richer neighborhoods where the people are complete snobs, and build a bunch of houses and donate them to Katrina victims from the Ninth Ward.<J/K
I'd give a bunch to Jim Rob with the proviso that my new screen name is "Unbannable Man."
I'd also get an internet connection so fast I'd always be IBFTZ.
I'd subsidize a band to follow Cindy Sheehan and play "Stars and Stripes Forever" when she speaks.
I'd open the Alamo-Girl Downside Legacy Library in Little Rock across from the Clintoon Singlewide.
Then I'd get into mischief.
Mostly nobody would ever see me again!
I'd have me a backhoe and a Cat D-5 and a gun range and a 'still
and mostly nobody would ever see me again!
How many people actually win out of millions of losing tickets? Everybody and their mommas probably bought tickets last night and no one still didn't win the damn thing.
because 50k after taxes will leave you with enough money to pay off your car, 100M and you don't worry about a bill again...ever.
Realistically, does someone expect to win when they buy a ticket?
That's a lotta tang!
That's why I pinged all you guys, he's probably gonna need assistance. :)
What you said.
Preserve for future family.
Conservation.
Growth
in other words...what I do already....just a heck of a lot more
You got that right but I use Monopoly money for that....fake money for fake breasts !
Next, I'd ride it...
I would!
Hundred million?
I'd pay what debts it would cover and keep working until I die.
Just like I am doing now.
(I would get the Jeep washed)
Honestly I'd help friends who've been kind to me and mine over the years...., make their lives easier.....
I would also have a special home only for aids babies. There are so many that no one wants and they must be starving for love. For a sick or disabled child to not be loved and cherished is the most tragic thing that mankind has ever done. Non profit a done deal.
"Here is an amazing fact: $340 million is the exact same as $164.4 million (the cash option). How?"
Present value vs. Future value of money. $340 million gained over 20 years is what $164.4 million lump sum is worth today.
LOL! Two chicks at once.
If I won $340 million there would be another 339 new millionaires right along with me.
I'd give a million to 339 other people.
First of all, I'd get down on my knees and thank the Lord Almighty for the huge, unbelievable, undeserved blessing that fell in my lap. Then I'd take the cash option, pay the taxes and tithe whatever I actually walked away with.
Then I'd take 5 million dollars for pocket money. The rest would be turned over to the best financial planner I could find.
With the pocket money I'd pay off the family mortgages and buy everybody a great car, hand them each a 100K to blow, spend a little money on myself, turn our pretty little farm into an estate, travel some, hand out money to strangers who look like they need it.
Whatever income I got from investing would be tithed, too. I'd still have more than I would enjoy spending in my lifetime...
Half would go to taxes, leaving 170 million for myself.
I would give each family member 3 million and keep 3 million for myself. I'd give my Church 10% and with the remaining money, I would give 1 million each to 60 of my closest friends.
This is going to sound silly but I would buy some land on either side of Elysian Fields Avenue in New Orleans (the Champs Elysees) and build "The Arch of Triumph."
I'm not sure if the French would like it or the anti-French would dislike it, but hey, it's what I would do...
