WHEW! My head is spinning! No only was this the LONGEST DUFU edition ever but I am still reeling from the absolute ABSURDITY of Mary Mapes' book excerpt. Hopefully our own Buckhead will be paying Mary a visit during her book tour to set her straight. And now I need to belt down a few "highballs" with Kitty Carlisle at the Hotel Pierre bar.
Save yourself the hassle of searching for each new edition of the DUmmie FUnnies. You can be alerted to them as they are posted by simply asking to be placed on the DUmmie FUnnies PING List.

My story on George W. Bushs Guard service had run on 60 Minutes the night before and I felt it had been a solid piece. We had worked under tremendous pressure because of the short time frame and the explosive content, but wed made our deadline and, most important, wed made news. [You made the deadline by cutting out certain annoying time-consuming procedures such as fact-checking, Mary.]

My story on George W. Bushs Guard service. . . . WHOSE story, Mary? Don't you think Gunga Dan wants to take credit for it?

Oooooh, top 10! Had to call "dibs" before I read this thing - it's long!

Has any one told Mary Mapes Bush won. Her book means nothing to intelligent people?

By the end of the month, I would be barred from doing my job and under investigation. By the end of the year, my long career at CBS News would essentially be over, after a long, excruciating, and very public beatingCry me a river, you lying media whore. You got precisely what you deserved....SACKED! And in disgrace.
No lighthearted comments from me on this subject. The only remaining problem is the "investigation" was a sham and more higher-up's at SeeBS should also have been told to clean out their desks.

"It was a devastatingly one-sided account of Barness past financial troubles and long-ago political scrapes, along with ancient accusations about Barnes when he had been a Democratic leader in Texas politics."
What a shameless idiot Mapes is. Complaining about digging around in the past of someone who dug around in someone elses past.

What had George W. Bush done during the volatile Vietnam years? And I'm sure you worked just as vigorously blowing the whistle (no pun intended) on what Bill Clinton had done during the volatile Vietnam years--like draft-dodging , skipping the country, and demonstrating on foreign soil. And I'm sure you highlighted the grave dangers Algore faced sitting behind a typewriter during that time. And you must certainly have aired extensive interviews with the Swift Boat Veterans to get to the truth of what John Fraud Kerry actually had done during those volatile years, not to mention his demonstrating with Commie sympathizers when he got home.
To: PJ-Comix
Did he do his duty? Did he tell the truth? And you cared as deeply to ask those questions about Clinton and Algore and Kerry, right?
To: PJ-Comix
Wow, PJ, I've got brain damage now.
What a self-centered little rant!

the president Notice the lack of capitalization. Mary, it is customary when writing about the President of the United States to capitalize "the President."

Dan Rather and I had aired the first-ever interview with former Texas lieutenant governor Ben Barnes on his role in helping Bush get into the Texas Air National Guard. Completely ignoring the fact that all ANG units had national ads out for pilots at the time Dubya joined.
