All these Web sites had extensive write-ups on the documents: on typeface, font style, and peripheral spacing, material that seemed to spring up overnight. It was phenomenal. It had taken our analysts hours of careful work to make comparisons. It seemed that these analysts or commentators---or whatever they were---were coming up with long treatises in minutes. They were all linking to one another, creating an echo chamber of outraged agreement.
Do these people live in a vacuum? Is Mapes trying to get us to believe that she has no clue how much info you can get on the net, not the mention the experience and vast talents of those that use FR? What I really think is that she thought Normalville, America is really that stupid. She was actually surprised that individuals working together (the private sector) could outdo a "professional" journalist firm. SeeBS probably functions with more bureaucracy than a Governor's office.

It had taken our analysts hours of careful work to make comparisons. [Huh?] It seemed that these analysts or commentators---or whatever they were---were coming up with long treatises in minutes. They were all linking to one another, creating an echo chamber of outraged agreement. Very enlightening. See-B-S was apparently so enthralled with these "Gotcha!" memos, they completely overlooked the fact that the memos were produced by word processing technology that did not exist until decades after the memos were suppossedly written. Then Ms. Mapes and her cohorts appear to be stunned and astounded by the speed at which this clumsy forgery attempt was exposed.

In fact, the GOP operatives had to be very careful in their dirty tricks operation: forging or counterfeiting official government documents is a felony.
I think the irony of that statement is lost on the author at Online Journal.
To: Smedley
... According to CBS insiders, the original TANG files were scanned by GOP dirty tricks operatives using a sophisticated text scanner that changed the original IBM typewriter Courier font to a Times Roman font, automatically created a "th" superscript for date numbers, and created margins and pagination. ... I would never have believed that anyone could post something so insane this unless I went to the DUmpster and saw it first-hand. These people put the "D" and the "U" in DelUsion
I'm having fun just thinking of all of the other secret GOP Rube Goldberg machines the DUmmies think we have. Perhaps one that automatically makes grape Kool Aid taste like orange, or one that secretly moves your shirt buttons to the other side?

I was told that the first posting claiming the documents were fakes had gone up on Free Republic before our broadcast was even off the air! How had the Web site even gotten copies of the documents? We hadnt put them online until later. That first entry, posted by a longtime Republican political activist lawyer who used the name Buckhead, set the tone for what was to come.
You were also told those memos were legitimate. Given the fact-checking that went into a story that you put on the air on Sixty Minutes II, it doesn't surprise me that you didn't check your facts on this one as well, you imbecile.
Check the post times, you vomitous mass. Buckhead posted AFTER the airing of the report.
