About five years ago, in a debate before the National Association of Black Journalists, I stated that if whites were to just leave the United States and let blacks run the country, they would turn America into a ghetto within 10 years. The audience, shall we say, disagreed with me strongly. Now I have to disagree with me. I gave blacks too much credit. It took a mere three days for blacks to turn the Superdome and the convention center into ghettos, rampant with theft, rape and murder.

Powerful statement indeed. Now imagine if someone white said it.

I think the problem has reached a point of critical mass. White people are getting sick and tired of being abused by those blacks of low morality. Whether the abuse be taking our tax money, committing the majority of crimes in the country, or charging "racist" if we utter the wrong word in the wrong decade, etc etc.

Some blacks have taken advantage of their "minority status" too long. Now most everyone is recognizing it. White and black. Soon something is gonna change, especially given the exposure of the problem by Katrina.

I bet the vast majority of blacks are ashamed to be members of the same race as those that cause the majority of trouble in our country. (e.g. crime, charges of racism, welfare costs)

thug culture is present in all races and ethnicities nowadays

maybe not to the same proportion but it's there nonetheless

i deal with it a lot

it's a scourge that needs to be addressed punitively rather than celebrated by sectors of popular culture and the entertainment industry.

It was blacks' moral poverty – not their material poverty – that cost them dearly in New Orleans. ~~snip~~ New Orleans, to the extent it is to be rebuilt, should be remade into a dependency-free, morally strong city where corruption is opposed and success is applauded.

"thug culture", "races and ethnicities". Well you've certainly got the buzzwords down doncha? Not sure i have the correct definition of "thug culture". Is it referring to the crime thing? Here in Cali there are Mexican and Asian gangs, but I was referring in particular to the situation in N.O. which as we've seen is a black/white place.

What about the welfare thing? I don't think there are many asians in the welfare lines, they're too busy WORKING and overseeing their kids homework. Mexicans? Yes. Here in Cali definitely. But here again, we're talking N.O.

The Racism thing?Let's face it. The blacks have the market cornered on that one.

This disappoints me.
I saw many black women dragging their belongings through filthy water, carrying crying children, trying to get out.
I saw brave folks wait in line for hours to get to the SuperDome - knowing that the chances were likely that there would be trouble (as there was before).
It isn't like communication by the state and local officials was clear - many did what they could in the time they had left.

I would agree with you if 99% of the blacks in this country thought OJ Simpson was guilty.
