Now that U.S. District Judge Lawrence Karlton, a Carter appointee with many loony decisions behind him, has ruled that the Pledge of Allegiance’s reference to one nation "under God" violates school children's right to be "free from a coercive requirement to affirm God", a new battle has been joined. The judge has granted legal standing to two families represented by an atheist who lost his previous battle before the U.S. Supreme Court.

The founders of our country were well aware that history teaches that when there is one established religion, there is tyranny; when there are two religions, there is war; and when there are many religions, there can be peace and freedom.

Judge Karlton is, I think, all wet. The pledge does not represent coercion. Far from it. Federal law specifically states nobody is ever required to recite the pledge.

The ruling was another horrendous step backward for America....but..

Public schools in any event are no longer educational institutions of any value....They merely provide employment for "teachers"....The answer?

Make what ever financial and quality of living sacrifices that are necessary and send the children to private schools.

I don't like his decision either but if the SCOTUS would have gotten off of their collective A*** last year when Nedow brought his original suit this would have already been history. Nedow and this issue was clearly not going away they only postponed the inevitable. It was Irresponsible and it shows how heavily the SCOTUS is now influenced by politics and public perception.
