Today Geraldo Rivera appeared on my screen, with tousled hair, stern countenance, mock outrage on full display, standing among some dejected New Orleans Hurricane survivors and I realized it was enough for me. I turned the TV off and have not gone back to it.
It wasn't just Geraldo, of course. It has been coming for some time. This newest disaster to hit the American people is just the catalyst for my disdain for TV "news". It was the final straw that broke my TV habit.
We have all seen the complaints of the coverage of news with the 24-hour cable stations pursuing that all-important story, the one we are all just dying to hear about... over and over and over again. We have heard the complaints about how those news stations beat a story to death with such relentless, constant coverage that even the news anchors find they have nothing left to say and stumble over their words trying desperately to utter anything intelligible. You will now have to count me in among that camp.
Oh, I resisted. I wanted to stay a loyal Fox News junkie. But they have beaten me into submission. Sure, when Fox fist came on I was enamored by the style, elated by the caliber of commentators and excited by the ... well, the excitement of it all. I was so happy that at last we had some people on TV with which I agreed. I was also interested to see that their news services were free of the bias I was so sick of from the big three network news casts.

I piss and moan about FOX all the time AND I have it on my TV ALL day and LOVE IT!

Actually, theoriginal article isn't saying he'll never watch Fox again, just that he is sick of TV news all the way around.
In fact he praised Fox and had worse things to say about the other outlets.
But, yeah FR is my fav place, too.
I agree, and I would love to have Fox News radio replace ABC, AP, CBS etc. which is still on talk radio stations around here. Actually one station in the area has switched to Fox News.
I just pinged the FoxFan list here because it was a thread about Fox News... good for discussion. I don't necessarily agree with the article completely. I will admit, though, that my husband and I watched FNC a lot less regularly during the "all-Natalee-all-the-time" coverage that has seemed to have ended because of the Katrina coverage. Fox News went WAY overboard with the endless Natalee coverage, IMHO. When it finally infiltrated Hannity & Colmes (which is supposed to be a show about politics and world events), with nightly interviews with Natalee's aunt, step-father, best friend... whatever, I gave up on the prime time shows: O'Reilly, H&C and especially Greta. O'Reilly & H&C seem to be back on track for the time being.
My favorite shows on FNC continue to be: Brit Hume's Special Report (best news show on TV IMHO), Neil Cavuto, The Fox News Watch, Beltway Boys, Cal Thomas' Sat. night show and War Stories with Ollie North. We also occasionally watch the Sat. morning business block shows.
Oh, one more thing: the sooner FNC gets rid of Geraldo, the better! ;-)

I disagree. One has to wade through way too much garbage on Fox before finding real news. (Remember Who, what, where, why?) Its all pre-packaged with speculative mantras, catchy-sounds bites, lots of glossy hairdos, and idiotic car chases.
Fox is very boring.
