What better sign that Fox News Channel has arrived than the fact that Shepard Smith was the guest on 'Late Night with David Letterman' last nght, writes Aaron Barnhardt.
'As I said on the radio yesterday, the media world is coming to grips with the fact that Fox News has moved up to the next level of dominance in televised news.'
'It's coverage of the disaster was consistently gripping, even more so as the week went on...CNN and MSNBC were good, but I kept gravitating towards Fox because ironically, I thought I could get less spin and more reportage there.'
He concludes, 'In the coming years I fully expect Rodger Ailes to beef up Fox's global reporting, add some kind of a headline service, acquire better radio assets and make good on his slogan 'The Most Powerful Name In News.'
Tiresome, but becoming truer every day.

I wish Brit would not sell his show to Enzyte, the male enhancer. Bob, with a generous whatever and the neighbor with a garden hose detumescing. I can't change the channel fast enough. I have 3 young kids and I don't even want to watch it with my wife in the room.
That company must have spent one half billion on promotions.
Know what the single, most important part of the above is? Answer: The part about "radio assets". As Fox News continues to move in and replace the 'top-of-the-hour' five-minute radio newscasts that NBC, ABC, CBS, and NPR have dominated for decades, the influence of Fox News on the electorate will increase substantially. Do you have any idea how many people get the sum total of their news from these newscasts as they drive back and forth to work in their cars?
AAAAHHHHHHH! You should warn a guy before posting something like that!
According to this Free Republic Article, CNN and Fox and very close in ratings shares.

Yup. I like Jane Skinner. She gots attitude.
How come every thread about Fox' ratings always turns into rating the babes?
I wonder what the Fox male/female viewer demographic breakdown looks like. Sure don't seem to see many commercials for Overstock.com on there (which I read were targeted to women)
Like Mr. Potato Head?
There was another anti-Shep post here last week:

But then suddenly a lot of pro-Shep people started making themselves heard.
Disappointed in you people. No pics? This is the first time you have failed me.
You mean Scarface?
She pops up on different shows. she's a
"field reporter", but she usually seems
to be covering Wash DC, and the Prez, in
particular...Not sure..but she may be a
member of the W.H. Press Pool, now.
Apparently, Fox 5's Julie Banderas changed her name from Julie Bidwell when she arrived in NYC to give it more of an ethnic flavor. http://www.newyorkish.com/newyorkish/ Monday, December 08, 2003
SMOOOOOOOOOOKIN' HOT...Toss up between Molly and Kiran for Hottest of the Hot but they only have a couple of token normal girls :-)... FOX News babes rock!
I've been very disappointed with Fox, starting with the (apparently) celebrated Shep Smith. Can't believe he's being interviewed on places like Letterman. This guy stood there and asserted New Orleans had "dodged the bullet" over and over, even while the water was rising outside of the French Quarter.
On the other hand, maybe some day he'll make a fine Dan Rather.
The plastic surgery did something to her lips and mouth -- when she talks it sounds and looks like she had a stroke.
Fortunately, she is smart enough so it overcomes that oddity.
Those banners cover up nearly 1/3 of the TV screen real estate, and they serve little purpose.
Seems both Fox & CNN dropped the obnoxious banners after your post.
I guess there is no thing as real reporter anymore.
Long live the lesson of Ernie Pyle!
I agree. Shep is a GQ Magazine junkie. And he HOLLARS. Can't stand hime. Tony Snow and Brit Hume are the types I like for news reporting and round table discussion. Greta is the epitome in charge of tabloid department. In my estimation, FOX News' quality has dropped in the last year or two.
First off , its not a "Free Republic Article". It's a News Max article. While CNN ratings have picked up, so has msnbc and Fox. Fox is still in first place by a substantial margin. Besides, during periods of breaking news --- like hurricanes, wars and terror attacks --- all the cable news outlets get a bump. CNN usually gets a slightly bigger bump in the ratings because liberals tune into their station of choice.
In addition. I didn't appreciate yopu responding to me with a dumb link that contained some of the same information I already posted to you. Next time try and defend yourself and not defend the liberal cnn.
Why tiresome, Aaron baby? Does snookins miss mistah Rather?
