Pardon my naiveté, but I was unaware that the venom, nastiness, and malice spewed so rampantly and callously on Air America.
On Air America's Mike Malloy show on Friday night, September 2, 2005 (link to entire show audio (3 hrs.)), Malloy said this about our First Lady, Laura Bush (audiotape on file) (emphasis mine):
"A murderer herself. Somebody getting killed, one of her former boyfriends, in a drunken stupor, being behind the wheel of a car ... So here's Laura Bush, another killer. This Bush family. In order to get in the Bush family, it's like the way it used to be in order to get into certain gangs in Chicago. You had to kill somebody. And once you killed somebody, you're part of the gang. Well, Laura, Laura Bush is apparently that way. She murdered somebody in a car wreck, so she's in the gang. She's part of the gang."
In 1973, Laura Bush was in fact involved in a horrible accident in which the car she was driving caused the death of a friend. But there is zero evidence that any alcohol was involved. This snopes.com piece and this USA Today article are about the incident.
Malloy's remarks are just plain awful. But it should come as no surprise considering what he had said earlier in the show about the Bush family and the Bush administration:
"Thousands of examples of human suffering and tragedy [in the aftermath of Katrina] ... It was deliberate. I swear to Christ, it was deliberate ..."
"This Bush crime family is about theft and greed and fraud and lies and war and death and posturing. They are beyond evil."

Their words are like trees falling in a forest with no one around to hear them.
Air what?
It's called "Free Speech." Ignore the idiots.
Hot foul air.
It's called slander.
Charge 'em with it. You'd just be playing into their hands.
Gee... I wonder how many stations carrying Air America were destroyed by Katrina?
Though it is amusing to watch the Left slowly cutting its own throat with a dull butter knife.
Jack.
If memory serves me correctly there was no booze involved in that accident.
They're just imitating the attacks on WJC and HRC.. to the non-political folks, the speculation that Clinton had Ron Brown killed, and that the Clintons had an enemies list and were having people offed left and right in ARK, that Clinton was running an international drug ring out of ARK (that somehow was connected to Iran-Contra doings), even that HRC had her old friend Vince Foster killed (that I could believe, but that would put me in the "tin-foil hat" crowd I guess).. all that seems over that top with non-talk radio listening America.
Both sides are preaching to the choir; AAR's choir is a lot smaller. Most folks aren't listening...
Reprat after me: Ignore, ignore, ignore.
I believe that the driving force behind this is a severe hatred for the right. While that's simple enough to dispise from our vantage point, I believe there are underlying reasons, though hardly justifiable.
During the lead up to and the aftermath of the Clinton tenure, he was taken to task for his many shadey actions. IMO he should have been. To the left, it was just the right trying to destroy him. To this day, I see it as Clinton destroying himself.
Even as president, Clinton couldn't tell the truth if his life depended on it. The man was caught in so many lies it was rediculous. The left never saw it that way.
Today they hate Bush because they think they are supposed to. If the right was going to act that way, then they damned well would too. Forgetting that their guy actually did things to merit the outrage from the right, they now fabricate things to hate Bush for.
At times, we did some fabricating ourselves. It's just that when you're dealing with the likes of Clinton, you know how he operates and you extrapolate worst case scenarios as a most likely case.
When the left decided to defend the likes of Clinton, they did what James Carville promised he'd do. They declared war. It didn't matter that they were championing Maciavelli, they did it anyway.
Today Clinton's champions are still plugging away, lost in a ceaspool of their own making.
You can get angry at these legions, but I'd suggest they are their own pathetic example of why that's a waste of time. I kindof feel sorry for the walking dead.
What was presented in the lead on this thread is disgusting. Laura was altered by that tragic event. Nobody took it lightly including the boys parents. I believe they forgave Laura, realizing it was a terrible acccident.
The left is not only sick, it is desparate.
I suppose the list of all the Clinton acquaintances who died by violent means is just an urban legend too.

This guy is clearly an idiot.
But I have always wondered. What would our reaction be if Hilary had the same experience in her past?
So you were what, one of three people listening?

Wow! somebody send this list to Ken Starr!! How could he have been so inept, obsessed with a pathetic little affair with all those dead bodies lying around??!!
Seriously, do you think Ken Starr was that determined to protect WJC??? To non-political persons, the above website has all the credibility of a madman shaking a geranium.... all the credibility of a Mike Malloy rant (we know him up around the Chicago area - he used to rant on WLS years ago, until he made the ABC/Capitol Cities/Disney owners nervous enough to fire him). He was actually popular - but in the way Art Bell is popular --- no one except the fringe took it seriously, and it was just considered entertainment..
If only middle of the road voters could somehow be forced to listen these hateful diatribes.
We'd bury the dems for the next 20 years.
The middle of the road voters aren't going to listen to talk radio types... they lump Mike Malloy in with the right-wing talk show hosts who were accusing HRC of murder..I had Michael Savage on one night (thought he was being quite funny), and my friend in the car was really upset and asked me to turn it off.. said it was "nasty".
Most people don't want to hear unpleasantness, true or false. They really do lump it all together. Radio talk show hosts are by their nature provocative - a "reasonable" host isn't going to get an audience.
The impact AAR will probably be minimal...their audience is the already convinced..
Your friend was right about Michael Savage.
If I wanted to be screamed at or listen to a manically deressed person for 3 hours, I'd call my ex-wife.
