Two German TV stations are apparently claiming that Bush's visit to N.O was basically a staged event: bulldozers and the like were brought in just for his visit, bodies were moved, etc.
Can someone provide translations and state the actual charges and what evidence is given?

the last is supposedly translated here:

This is discussed here:

You also might want to spend some time reading the other entries at the HuffPost. That site has two sides: blog ( http://www.huffingtonpost.com/theblog/ ) and news (http://www.huffingtonpost.com/thenewswire/).
On the news side, comments are posted immediately and don't seem to be deleted.
However, on the blog side, comments are moderated and - oddly enough - almost no one disagrees with most of the pundits.

Shumer will be calling for impeachment hearings in 2 weeks or less
ON what? Even the Wash Post yesterday had to admit in their article that Bush is asking the Gov of Lousiana to turn over control of this mess to the Feds. How can it be "Bush's Fault" when the Feds are STILL having to ask the State of Lousiana to hand over control? Why is Bush responsible for the mess Gov Blanco is in charge of?

The rumor in Europe is that help for NO was late in coming because Bush dislikes blacks. The slimy, slithering left at work again.
Oh really? Then why is Bush still having to ask the State of Lousiana to release control of this mess to the Feds as of RIGHT now?

Yeah, but it doesn't work that way. Someone makes an accusation and lots of people believe it unless other people constantly harp on the proof that the original accusation was wrong.
For instance, consider that looting vs. finding thing. Lots of sites - including the Huff Post - posted about that. Kanye West even mentioned it during his rant on NBC.
Now, snopes.com has completely demolished the underlying story.
But, unless someone keeps harping on it, the looting vs. finding thing is just going to be out there, with many people still believing it.

"The rumor in Europe is that help for NO was late in coming because Bush dislikes blacks."
I'm sure that Europe thinks we invaded Iraq without justification but surely they don't really believe we would leave a city full of people to suffer and/or die because of their skin color.
Jesse Jackson wasn't even able to say that with a straight face - he said "other people, but not necessarily me" were saying it.
But honestly, if Europe's opinions about us are that far gone then there is no need for pretense in the relationship. We might as well be straight forward with them on everything rather than being gentle for their European sensitivities.
But part of me thinks they don't really believe.

Yea. And my point, since Shumer is in the Senate and the House has to instigate Impeachment, is on what? The LEGAL facts which our Dinosaur Media is ignoring, places the blame for NO squarely on the back of the City of NO and the State of Louisiana. Democrats REALLY do not want this looked at too closely. Billions of dollars of Fed Homeland Security money has been given to the State of Louisiana and the City of NO to prepare for this sort of disaster. After last week do you as a taxpayer feel YOU got your money's worth? When Congress starts digging into this mess, one of the 1st questions they are going to have to answer is, what DID you do with all our aid that was SUPPOSE to help you preparer to ride out the 1st 72-96 hours of any disaster as the FEMA directives tell local Governments? Just why did the 1st and 2nd responders (City of NO/State of Louisiana so totally fail to meet their obligations? It would appear that all our AID bought a LOT of "study" and very little REAL planning or preparedness. N.O. is just ONE major urban area that got a whole lot of Federal cash. There are a lot of high power "Consulting firms" all over the country run by Democrat activists who do NOT want us to look too closely at all this. So I say, more power too you Chucky Shumer. You want to look into this? I sure want the Congress to look into too!

Which is why you do not play the game. You demand THEY prove THEIR accusation NOT that the accused prove THEM wrong. Don't point to all the minorities in various high powered Federal Positions in the Bush Admin. Demand that these bigots PROVE their accusations.

You can be sure that whatever President Bush does the media will spin it to be the wrong thing to do. The man just cannot do anything to make them happy, so he should give them all an upraised middle digit and go about his business of leading the country.

Can you say Bill Clinton, rocks used as a cross in the middle of a sand beach with a reporter over his shoulder.
This was not staged. (sarcasm)

I know one thing - *someone* is gonna hang for this, and the public aren't gonna much care who.

Can I assume then that
Kevin Drum was right? I'm going to have to assume that, since I don't have any contrary evidence and this thread has been relegated to the cheap seats, aka B&P.

Derogatory term for us Germans.
Why would you ever use such a term? Definitely not an aid to intelligent discourse.
To: stratocaster42
Neither was the object of this story. Intelligent discussion comes from fact based statements, not propaganda. He spewed shit, I spewed it right back. I don't mind any of the derogatory names for German I have been called in my life(kraut, Hun, Nazi etc.). I know this clown would find them offensive and I replied to his offensive statement in kind.

Who were you replying to that would have been reading your statements? Was it someone on German TV or someone on this site?
