15% of the female students at Timken High School in Canton Ohio are pregnant. That means that almost 1 in 5 female students is expecting! Bad reporting skills and bad math skills.
65/490 = .13265 or 13.27% (not really 15%) So, how close is this to "almost 1 in 5"? Well divide 1 by .13265 and you get 7.53846. Therefore, you could honestly say "that means that more than 1 in 8 female students..." or "that means that nearly 1 in 7 female students..." but to say "almost 1 in 5 female students..." is downright dishonest.

I guess they don't know math either. They should know the percentage of 1 in 6 from doing random probability, and everyone knows that's how teen girls get pregnant: randomly.

What happens to the law in Ohio?
Is anybody under 18 involved, if yes where are those prosecuting involuntary rape?
Or are there mitigating circumstances as sex education has failed and needs to be revamped first since obviously students did not listen.
Never mind excuses, if left untreated things will turn worse.

Okay, not to minimize the problem but in the interests of accuracy...
1 in 5 would be 20%, not 15%. 1 in 7 pregnant would be closer to the truth, at slightly over 14%.

" I wonder why education officials arent taking credit for the success of public school sex education programs?"
They were using an "abstinence based" program. I think these are the folks.
http://www.communityofcaring.org/
"This program is directed toward students at Timken Senior High School in Canton, with the intent of reaching 75% of the students. The Community of Caring (COC) program incorporates five separate elements into an abstinence-based educational program that helps students learn the importance of values. It includes the integration of values, a coordinator, teen forums, parental involvement, and community service programs."
