15% of the female students at Timken High School in Canton Ohio are pregnant. That means that almost 1 in 5 female students is expecting! Bad reporting skills and bad math skills.
65/490 = .13265 or 13.27% (not really 15%) So, how close is this to "almost 1 in 5"? Well divide 1 by .13265 and you get 7.53846. Therefore, you could honestly say "that means that more than 1 in 8 female students..." or "that means that nearly 1 in 7 female students..." but to say "almost 1 in 5 female students..." is downright dishonest.

I am simply quoteing the article: "The newspaper reports that the non-Canton rate was 7 percent. Canton was 15 percent. I can only assume that they rounded up. And I actually meant to say 1 in 6. I corrected it on my blog, but there was no way to correct my FR post. So while I may be guilty of bad typing, I am not guilty of bad reporting. But then again, I am sure you have never made a mistake in any of your posts.
