Quote: First hand account from Knick of Evol Intent...
Last night, I was booked to play an event about an hour outside of Salt Lake City, Utah. The hype behind this show was huge, they presold 700 tickets and they expected up to 3,000 people total. The promoters did an amazing job with the show.. they even made slipmats with the flyers on them to promote in local shops.
So, we got to the show around 11:15 or so and it was really cool. It was all outdoors, in a valley surrounded by huge mountains. They had an amazing light show flashing on to a mountain behind the site, the sound was booming, the crowd was about 1500 people thick and everything just seemed too good to be true really. Well...
At about 11:30 or so, I was standing behind the stage talking with someone when I noticed a helicopter pulling over one of the mountain tops. I jokingly said "Oh look, here comes big brother" to the person I was with. I wasn't far off.
The helicopter dipped lower and lower and started shining its lights on the crowd. I was kind of in awe and just sat and watched this thing circle us for a minute. As I looked back towards the crowd I saw a guy dressed in camoflauge walking by, toting an assault rifle. At this point, everyone was fully aware of what was going on . A few "troops" rushed the stage and cut the sound off and started yelling that everyone "get the fudge out of here or go to jail". This is where it got really sticky.
No one resisted. That's for sure. They had police dogs raiding the crowd of people and I saw a dog signal out a guy who obviously had some drugs on him.
The soldiers attacked the guy (4 of them on 1), and kicked him a few times in the ribs and had their knees in his back and sides.
As they were cuffing him, there was about 1000 kids trying to leave in the backdrop, peacefully. Next thing I know, A can of Frigging TEAR GAS is launched into the crowd.
People are running and screaming at this point. Girls are crying, guys are cussing... bad scene.
I guess that 'freedom of assembly' has gone the same way of 'property rights' in this once great country.
end of argument, if you don't ackowledge the destructive nature of these usually clandestine events and the rampant drug use, and the crime that goes along with the drugs we have nothing else to talk about.
I have ZERO problem with the police closing down a rave like this.
Freepers taking the side of the dope heads over the police. Not the first time for sure.
Why is it the same Freepers who stomp and scream for sending the National Guard to close down the Mexican borders flinch when the police are used to go after lawbreakers?
(sarcasm) Yes, it's a nice way to teach them that they cannot trust government...
I bet if these same ravers had antiwar banners and Anarchist t-shirts on, there would be different opinions expressed towards the police.
OK. But I guess the question has to be asked is whether we will ever arrive at an objective truth in the midst of all the spin.
Sounds like bad actors all around. Has the feel of some real 'facts.'
Sunnyside -I forget - are you a bootlicker or an actual jackboot?
Why is it the same Freepers who stomp and scream for sending the National Guard to close down the Mexican borders from ILLEGAL ALIEN INVADERS flinch when the police are used to go after lawbreakers teenage citizens?
Because they have common sense?
We don't know that. They could have been Pro-Bush for all we know. Besides, note the (sarcasm) tag in my last post.
Where did you get "the national guard busts a bunch of ravers?"
The DEA lets $4 Billion dollars worth of drug cross our southern border and who know about the northern border proceeds.
Then these same DEA guys raids a summer party. These uniformed turds are focusing on the wrong people.
I like Wolfie's comment:You could do the same thing at every NFL tailgate and make the same number of arrests.
I could hear all of the tough talk at the war room meeting how their going to get the kids.
BFD!
I say get your tough guy act on our borders and protect this country from the real threat.
Ya know dljordan you right these are the tactics of a freak'in police state!
You could have more fun in the old USSR these days.
Mikhail Gorbachev and Vladimir Putin were among the audience when ex-Beatle Paul McCartney staged a spectacular show in Russia on May 24, 2003.

Yeah Paul, those Ukraine girls
really knock me off my feet to.
Why? They would kill each other.
I'd like to see both sides of the story. Excuse me if I don't take some message board post from some dopehead raver "damning The Man" at face value.
Utah has a higher marriage rate than the national average.
