The article.
Well, he is a liberal, and Lord knows that most of that crowd has done some pretty outrageous stuff. Wouldn't be terribly surprising if it HAD been true.
*shrug*
All of it -- the "article" and the oft-repeated but incorrect claim that Armstrong "left his wife and kids" for Ms. Crow. The real story is that his wife left him because he wouldn't give up racing (she made him choose between her and his career -- bad move with such a competitive person). He still visits often with her and the children, they're on good terms, just no longer married.
In all fairness to Lance, he went through hell. And came back physically and mentally stronger for it.
How many other people could have gone through the cancer he did, setting back his physical prowress and fitness to the extent that it did, and not only battled back to compete, but to WIN the Crown Jewel of cycling?
And not once, but SEVEN consectutive times.
More than even LeMond after his hunting accident...
Full Disclosure: I agree his politics are wrong, but brain tumors are something you shouldn't take cheap shots about.
Second Disclosure: The French can be cruel. There was grafitti written on the road on last year's Tour de France, I believe near Alpe d'Huez, reading "Rip their Balls Off, Lance". Another cheap shot...
Maybe THAT's why he wanted so bad to win. . .
Armstrong is a secret writer for the Onion, apparently.
Not funny.
This whole thread sucks. Nobody seems to realize it is satire, and that's partly because it's lousy satire.
Hey, lost a brother to a brain tumor, our joke was that was the most mass in his thick head, and I was cracking on mind, Cheryl Crow?
Well, there is a point to be made that a physical outlet for agression by young males might drain off some irrationality that they often experience. I wouldn't read too much into his statement.
One can't help but notice that very few Islamic youths are involved in much of anything except for building bombs and killing people. So I think one could argue that he has a point. I know that when I go outside and smell the fresh air and sunshine it has a theraputic effect on my mental health. Isn't this really what he was saying? Seen any Muslims training for bike races recently? I haven't.
