Jane Fonda has worked as an actress and then retired, gotten married and divorced several times, condemned cosmetic surgery and then had eye lifts and breast implants (and later had the implants removed). The list of reversals is a long one, but in one area of her fabled life Fonda has remained resolute. She refuses to pass up an opportunity to take a stand against American foreign policy when U.S. service men and women are fighting totalitarian forces in the world.
Famous for posing, smiling, in a photo on a North Vietnamese anti-aircraft gun, Fonda is now planning a national bus tour to oppose Americas role in Iraq.
"I cant go into any detail except to say that its going to be pretty exciting," she says. "Ive decided Im coming out." Hopefully, a good many American veterans and their families will be coming out as well to meet Fonda along the way and engaging in dialogue about her extraordinary credentials to speak on this issue. "I have not taken a stand on any war since Vietnam," she said. "I carry a lot of baggage from that." Indeed.
Fonda hasnt announced tour details. Keep your eyes peeled for her travel schedule. Fonda deserves to meet Americans who believe in freedom enough to be willing to help the Iraqi people secure that freedom.
Hopefully some of those Americans will want to "support" Fonda by joining her national motorcade, taking the dialogue from town to town in the best American tradition. Especially because Fonda says she favors "solidarity," she truly deserves to keep seeing many of the same faces again and again. Is America a great country, or what?
I live in S.E. Michigan and I will gladly take a day off work to hurl eggs or tomatos at her bus if it comes within 100 miles of where I live........
This has got to be one of the dumbest broads that ever lived: over 60 years old, all kinds of money and experiences, and she hasn't learned a damn thing!
I had an idea about how to respond to Jane's bus tour. We announce that activists (mainly, freepers) are prepared to ARREST HER FOR TREASON under the Citizen Arrest provisions available in our constitution.
I've heard that there's no statute of limitations on treason. We hand her over to the local authorities, and she becomes one charged with treason against the United States. I can't tell if this idea has already been floated -- I did searches for Jane Fonda, Treason, Citizen Arrest and found no references on Free Republic. I will post this on 2 or 3 Hanoi Jane threads.
