See also, this paraphrase from Philip Gulley:
"When some people disagree with me, I try to change their minds.

When [Hugh Hewitt] disagrees with me, I rethink my position."

What a dumbass post from Hugh. He probably has bad blood with Tom Tancredo that goes further back than just this "nuke Mecca" contretemps.

Hang in there. I think you did good. As cripplecreek said elsewhere: Hugh is just mad that he is wrong about how many conservatives agree with Tom on illegal immigration.

That is not an accurate quote, just sort of paraphrased. My apologies to cripplecreek.

I intend to continue listening to Hewitt unless he intends to continue insulting me.

I didn't hear about Hewitt, whom I never listen to, attacking Tancredo. I do recall that some years ago the popular Bill O'Reilly lashed out for no reason at then Senator Helms just to show that O'Reilly was no "right-winger" and a real "independent." I never listened to O'Reilly again and would never turn on his overrated program.

...unless he intends to continue insulting me.

Since I had been listening to him online for I don't know how long, I feel very insulted right now and will not put up with it.

Hugh holds out hope that the moderate Muslims will come through. Diana West talks about it here and here.

In the run-up to Bush's Supreme Court picks, Hewitt touted several nominees but was conspicuously silent on Janice Rogers Brown. I e-mailed him inquiring about this and received no reply. Plus the guy is a big fan of (R)nold, and his babbling about the "center-right" gets tiresome. He's no Rush or Laura, that's for sure.

Hate to tell you this but not supporting Tancredo does not mean someone is not a conservative.

But being a gun-grabber does.

Hugh's a good guy.

Being a good guy and being even remotely conservative are certainly not exclusive.

I myself am partial to the ones who imply that "you" just don't understand what the United States Constitution says.......and/or the Founding Fathers. Like THEY have some sort of "inside" on the true meaning of each and every word of it.

I must take issue on this. The founders intentionally worded the Constitution as simple as possible, for very good reason. For instance, "shall not be infringed" means exactly that. It does not mean "may be infringed if Sarah Brady is afraid of it". It means what it means.

This does not mean that good conservatives can disagree on other issues, but when it comes to the Constitution, any intelligent reader can determine the founders' intent simply by reading it literally.

Hugh Hewitt, as I recall, was all FOR the nuclear option. He was all over Frist in the spring for not implementing it.

Politics is the art of the possible. Hugh presents all sides, and his opinion is usually right on. Tancredo is a surly little punk.

Hugh is an open borders zealot. An amnesty fool. Same as all the other bigtime GOP stooges. Of course, when you live in yuppie Irvine and teach at Chapman College your ivory tower keeps you from having to mingle with the results of your "compassion". Immigration is at the root of Hewitt's mudslinging Tancredo.
