Since this is a VANITY thread open to all questions. I need some help getting a rebuilt engine for my sail boat.

Need a 25 HP engine for a 36' Catalina.

Hopefully in the Southern California area.

Anyone help? Thanks.

Does ebay have these, shipping would suck though. Maybe the local marina/sale boat shop?

Classic "Auto Parts Store" counterman question--

1- Make?
2- Model?
3- Year?

If this is a Gray Marine 4 cylinder, any automotive machine shop can rebuild it. Depending on how much work is required, they can overbore and hone the cylinders, install oversized pistons, lap the valves, install new crankshaft bearings, rebuild the carb, etc. An engine is an engine for any good machine shop.

Try the yellow pages for "engine rebuilding."

Prepare for a "boatload" of sailboat fuel jokes.

Oops, sorry! I misread "getting a rebuilt engine" as "getting an engine rebuilt."

As Miss Emily Latella used to say: "Nevermind."

Yes, generally however you need an engine to back out of the dock slip and move around the marina to get to the "open water" also, sometimes an evening cruise of the harbor just on the engine is fun for the family so you really need both on a boat this size.
