Aiding and Abetting Terrorists:The New Focus of the Old Media
Canada Free Press ^ | June 15, 2005 | J.B. Williams

The old media is on the ropes. Newspaper circulations are at an all time low and still slipping. Network news is having trouble competing with PBS for ratings, having lost many of their viewers to cable news, notably - the much hated and loved Fox. Once respected news journals like Time and Newsweek now share rack space with other sensationalized headline merchants like The Globe and The Enquirer, which sell better because their headlines are more reliable.

Does this good article come from a Canada-based organization? That's hard to believe.

The biggest buyer of advertising on TV, Procter and Gamble, which spends something like $2.8 billion annually on the MSM, is reviewing its ad campaigns for 2006 forward. P&G might actually forgo traditional advertising on the tube...

Great article. I no longer get my news from MSM. I can search the web and get more accurate news.

I'm tired of the MSM telling me that this country and President Bush is at fault for everything wrong with the world.

MOST OF ALL, I'M TIRED OF THE MSM HELPING OUR ENEMYS.

An absolute Home Run!! The only place where I disagree with the author is on the effectiveness of the MSM's "Close Gitmo" strategy. I believe that most Americans (excluding the ACLU, left wing dems and moveoners) want Gitmo to stay open and could give a rat's arse about what treatment the poor wittle terrorists get. The MSM is not being effective in changing that opinion. Americans understand that this is a war we are fighting and one we did not start. Perhaps I am wrong, but I seriously doubt it.

I AGREE. In fact, we are treating the terrorists at GITMO TOO WELL.

The MSM still believes it alone forms public opinion. Not shape, but form. In other words, if the MSM reports it, the MSM believes that it is automatically accepted as true without question. They not only don't have that power anymore (if they ever did) they are having trouble influencing, much less shaping, public opinion.

Good on them.

The only people who believe the MSM are members of the NATIONAL DEMOCRAT SOCIALIST ABORTION PARTY (NSDAP).

I also find it funny, the more they loose readership and viewer-ship, the angrier and louder they get.

The ability to shape public opinion is powerful. Intentionally shaping it against one’s own national security interests is an act against one’s own country. Where is the public outcry about that?

That is the same question I have.

The Old Media has earned its own demise fair and square. I say good riddance to the purveyors of journalistic fraud.

The MSM has been living behind the "Freedom of the Press" for so long they think it can protect them from ANYTHING they do.

They are just now figuring out that the one thing it doesn't do is it does not force us to buy their papers & magazines and watch their tv shows.

Reality has finally caught up to them.
