Unfortunately, he's in kidney failure. We're pulling out all the stops for him (I believe with all the money we spent we have helped build a new wing in the vet hospital) but it doesn't look to hopeful. Amazing the things they can do for animals these days. Hopefully, in the years to come they'll get better and better at it.

They even do kidney transplants now. I don't know whether you have to volunteer your dog to be a donor sort of like we do or what, but it's pretty amazing that many of the same treatments used for humans also work for our furry babies.

We talked about looking into kidney transplants but he's probably to old (almost 15). Also it kind of creeps me out to be another dog and my dog in so much pain pretty much for my sake. I read a story about a family that got another dog just to give their dog a transplant. Their dog died anyway. I thought that was wrong.

I think the donor dogs for blood is great. I'm not sure what other things they do but as long as it doesn't put the dog in unnecessary pain or long term effects than I think it's probably okay.

I have been watching this thin unfold for months. I really do enjoy this site. The only complaint that I have is that I have is that I have to disarm my firewalls so that I can post here. I use the same thing the the military uses because it is made available to us for free, because they know that we use our personnel computers for work also.
