ZOGBY: MAJORITY OF AMERICANS ANTI-IMMIGRATION
It is no surprise that another new national poll -- this latest one by Zogby International -- indicates that the vast majority of Americans have very strong anti-immigration views. The recent Zogby poll reveals that 81% of Americans believe local and state police should round up illegal aliens; 56% oppose Pres. Bush's amnesty proposal; and 53% support placing military troops on the border. One surprising aspect of this poll, according to Zogby, is that the biggest opponents of illegal immigration are black Americans and women!

I'm wondering why the Bush Administration, knowing that the overwhelming numbers of people of this nation are against illegal immigration, and amnesty for illegal immigrants, are still adamant about pushing for this. I am frustrated to no end about this, and the GOP weak-kneed response by the GOP's in Congress to President Bush about this issue.

That a bogus headline if I've ever seen one!
Clearly, it is illegal immigration that Americans don't want.

Even Zogby can be right if he stays away from political questions. No surprise about the black segment of the population.

Trust James (Fraudulent Exit Poll) Zogby to mutilate the question.
The majority of Americans are anti-ILLLEGAL immigration, Jim, not legal immigration.

1) Lock down our borders.
2) Begin massive deportations.
3) Levy HUGE fines against companies that hire illegals.
4) No one whom has been deported may EVER enter the US with ANY kind of visa.
This will force millions home and start a long overdue revolution within Mexico

The title says American's are anti-immigration. I do not believe that is true although that is how proponents of amnesty want to paint those who are against ILLEGAL immigration.
There is a big difference between being anti-immigration and being anti-illegal immigration.

I'm stunned that people would believe any number John Zogby puts out for any reason. You have to consider the source, prior to accepting or acting on the data.

aren't there penalties for businesses who hire illegals?
i mean if there was a really stiff monitary penalty for hiring illegals then maybe businesses wouldn't hire them and then they may stop crossing. if we're having trouble securing the borders why not punish businesses and remove their reason for coming...just a thought.

One surprising aspect of this poll, according to Zogby, is that the biggest opponents of illegal immigration are black Americans Why is this a surprise? Every major wave of immigration has taken jobs away from blacks and used them as stepping stones up the economic ladder of success leaving the blacks in the dust. El Presidente Fox pretty much declared the Mexican intention to repeat this cycle. The blacks would be crazy not to be against immigration; it hurts them the most.

Yeah, they sure don't want yet another group to come over here to out-hustle them with good work ethic and surpass them to the American dream in a generation or two. You really believe that? What century you living in?
