Give Our Hospitals to Illegal Immigrants . . and Be Done With it! -(don't ask, don't tell policy!)
OPINION EDITORIALS.COM ^ | MAY 11, 2005 | KAYE GROGAN

Posted on 05/11/2005 1:23:00 PM PDT by CHARLITE

If you’re an "undocumented" illegal immigrant, and you need medical attention–well, get on the "gravy train" for free healthcare compliments of our government, and struggling taxpayers to the tune of $1 billion smackeroos, set aside for your medical costs in six states. There’s only one small hurdle, but I’m sure you’ve already had a lot of practice in getting past the hurdle before. It is quite simple: just don’t admit that you’re an illegal immigrant. And to help you beat the system, and get by with your illegal activity–congress has ordered the "don’t ask" policy to hospital staffs throughout the nation. You even have the blessing from our president to continue breaking the law. Now that’s what I call eastern, western, northern and southern hospitality!

Only in America can the law-abiding citizens’ feet be held to the fire, while foreigners are practically begged to break the laws here in America. We are definitely earning the reputation to be categorized as a bunch of losers and pushovers to other countries.

Just recently, Dr. Mark McClellan administrator of Medicaid and Medicare, gave the command that under no circumstances will hospital staff be required to ask sick people whether or not they are U.S. citizens. My, don’t you wish you had someone like that overseeing that you are provided excellent medical care when you go to the hospital, if you don’t have health insurance?

Oh now I get it! ...the ones who are eligible for free emergency care treatment will be easily recognizable, otherwise, a United States citizen might get through the "freebie" crack, and not be charged for medical assistance. Goodness . . . we can’t have that happening now–can we?

Obviously, the command from the Bush Administration to treat illegal immigrants does not go far enough to suit Cecilla Munoz, a representative of the National Council of La Raza, as she fears many illegal immigrants will still fear seeking treatment.

Okay, I have a suggestion: let’s just give all of the illegal aliens our hospitals--lock, stock, and barrel--and be done with it!

In case you’re wondering how the billion dollars is going to be allocated in this fiscal year through 2008 for free illegal immigration medical treatment, here is the breakdown: California will get $70.8 million; Texas, $46 million; Arizona, $45 million; New York, $ 12.3 million; Illinois, $10.3 million; Florida, $8.7 million, with New Mexico rounding out the top six states at $5.1 million. Now you can go and throw up!

Just think how the medical directives and benefits could help our own citizens in desperate need of healthcare benefits. Well, you don’t count, you will just have to go crawl up in a ball somewhere and die.

I think most of us can agree that something is dreadfully wrong here in America, and it needs to be fixed. Here’s a suggestion to start the ball moving in the right direction: we need to distance ourselves from the United Nations and quit being Santa Claus to every rogue nation in the universe, and quit stuffing the stockings of illegal aliens every day here in America.

We are told that we must allow foreigners to come to America, if we want our economy to grow. And if you believe that "figment" of somebody’s imagination–you’ll end up in poverty, and another depression no doubt! I will have to say one positive thing for our American leaders: they have made sure that we’re the richest nation in the world–if you count the trillions of dollars only on paper.

Most of us already know that our economy is prospering due to "plastic" money. If all charge cards were taken away, there would be an immediate depression.

I have been told that I’m not to worry when my stock goes up or down, because you’re only losing or gaining money on paper until the stock is sold. Whew . . . that’s nice to know! Okay, what do I lose if the stock bottoms out . . . just more paper? You should see just how stupid this analogy is by now!

No . . . what you should see: is how you’re being fed a big dream by opportunists’ forcing you to accept foreigners taking over your territory, with the promise the economy will rise through the roof.

Well, there is no roof in place–just a big empty space with nothing but hot air rising up from a lot of silver-tongued politicians, hoping to placate and please you, just enough to keep them in office by the skin of their "invisible" Pinocchio noses.

Many illegal immigrants resent being referred to as "illegal" immigrants, but they shouldn’t waste time worrying or sweating the small stuff, because soon it will be "politically incorrect" to refer to them as illegals.

Heck–before you know it . . . all of the legal citizens will reverse roles with you, and you will be the ones who are legal, and we’ll be the illegals.

Hey! ...that might not be such a bad idea–if we finally get free medical treatment too!

And that’s just my opinion!

That billion dollars could be put to pretty good use protecting our borders. It would pay for an huge pool of available man-days for National Guardsmen training while simultaneously patrolling the border.

By my calculations, for this $1,000,000,000, you could pay out approximately $2,739,726 per day. This would deploy approximately 22,831 troop man-days on the border each day (calculated at a base military pay of $120 per 8 hour period, per soldier). If deployed in 8 hour shifts, that would mean around 7610 permanently patrolling troops on the border giving 24 hours a day coverage. As the Mexican border is approximately 2000 miles long, this would average 3 soldiers per mile (the rest being supervisory and support), 24 hours a day. I'd bet that would stop a lot of the illegal immigrants now showing up in Emergency Rooms all over the country!

As a benefit, rather than paying out "free" health costs for thieves sneaking in and stealing them from the American taxpayer the money goes into the pockets of our troops!

It was bad enough when my son was dropped by CHIP after only one month of coverage due to cuts in funding... but yet 2 months later I hear this commercial on the radio where a school nurse is calling Mrs. Gonzales or some spanish name to let her no Jose is running a fever and "oh by the way, why don't you apply for CHIP.." Talk about fuming!

But then again, it's kinda like my neighbors.... bi-racial family of 4 - mom, dad, son, daughter.... No one in the home works because 3 of them (dad & kids) draw SSI due to "disabilities"... uh huh... really disabled. Kids play unsupervised non-stop, dad works out at the gym everyday.

Yet, there again, my disabled son does not qualify for CHIP or SSI... go figure.

Same concept as paying for Illegals healthcare.

It's just so sickening and so very WRONG! Just makes me work that much harder to NOT be dependent on the gov't or anyone else for anything.

I understand what you are saying. Just don't let your son's or your health care go. This is happening all to often for Americans.

Thanks very much for this additional information, Happy2BMe. Very helpful. The more facts that we get out into the public about this abuse of our country by illegals, the better chance that there might be true legislation ending this appalling situation.

"No, it is wrong."

No kidding. That's not the point. The point is to take the burden off the state taxpayer and place it on the fed level. My county in California now has an 8.75% sales tax, passed to fund the crashing county medical system. Guess who crashed it? Guess who is now paying for it? This tax was passed by local libs to the detriment of all. Right and wrong has nothing to do with it. At least at this small level, the feds are acknowledging that they are indeed responsible for protecting the borders and if they won't do that at least help defray the states' costs.

I would suggest that all legal citizens NOT enter any emergency room that is flooded with illegals.

Last week, it was stated that in Arizona, there is a rise in whooping cough cases. Who knows what else these people bring with them, TB maybe?

We're better off staying away from those places.

However, it peeves me to no end that they come over here and we have to pay for them.

This incessant coddling of the "poor illegals" is going to have to be brought to an end.

One way or the other...

"or from one working stiff to another."

It's the same working stiff. Different tax source.

Well, Texas just passed new taxes today. No doubt in the hidden language this new tax will also be for illegals. We cannot absorb anymore. Most Americans only have one bank account so it doesn't matter who does the taxing city, county, state or the feds. The money still comes out of the same bank account. The Texas taxes will be signed by our Republican governor.

What you are actually saying is that Bush and the Republicans have been such failures on border control that the rest of the country needs to pay for their mess. Instead of tackling the problem of illegal immigration we are being forced to subsidize illegals. This problem will just escalate. Insurance rates will skyrocket as this billion won't be enough.

Also, what makes you think that legal hispanics won't go to the hospital and say "no comprende" and also get free care? I'll guarantee you that this will also happen. This has opened the door to more corruption than imaginable.

I doubt OReilly knows how wealthy some of these Mexicans are. Of course, not all are wealthy but they are Mexico's problem, not ours.

I do know of one Mexican who had a maid that brought him fresh fruit daily to his hospital room. A nurse asked the maid where she got such fresh fruit. She said their jet goes to Mexico City every day to get the fruit. Guess who paid the hospital bill? True story. By the way, they had 2 personal jets.
