Please put your links regarding justice for Terri on this thread or articles re: people who are waking up all the time and speaking because they've been given new treatments. Terri was denied a chance to eat by mouth at the end and she was denied new groundbreaking tests by Judge Greer. Instead, he stuck to his guns that she would be starved and dehydrated beginning on March 18th. What a man. It takes a big man to starve an innocent woman to death. This was ALL AGAINST THE FLORIDA STATUTES.

Possibly we can mend a divide in the Republican Party that is turning into a dangerous crevasse by demanding the impeachment of Judge George Greer, Sixth Circuit Court, Pinellas County, Florida.
If that sounds radical, please note that the democrats are in trouble as well for not saving Terri's life.
Greer had super powers over the Governor of Florida, over the US Congress, the President and over the FDLE. Greer who was in defiance of the US Congress and President is the one who needs investigation and impeachment but the RINO's in Tallahassee are reluctant to do their duty.
If Terri was killed because of money and power, let us find out how RINOS like Senator Jim King went into battle against Terri with the death lobby and the national trial lawyers. Senator Jim King of Duval County should not get a pass either, not ever.

I'll be surprised if Greer runs again. I doubt he will be impeached, and personally think the petition is a waste of effort. All the kings horses didn't save Terri, and it is not going to be considered politically expedient to impeach the judge.
Probably true - but the people of Florida have to let that out-of-control state know they do not and will not support state-killing.
Otherwise, it will be abused as it has in Terry's case.
Do the people of Florida really know when the end-of-life laws are changed? Or, are they to check weekly and then try and get a bad law off the books.
Something has to be done and now that we see the dirty underbelly in Florida, something needs to be done.

I don't mean this as a bad son post as I'm not privy to all the facts. It just makes me wonder about everything and why people think the way they do. This is a moral issue with me or I would keep it to myself. My dil has some issues (partly justified when she was young) with her mother and every time she sees her, she sees herself in another 10 or 20 years, I think . . .I know it's got to be rough.

I've been thinking over the "possible" petition for a constitutional amendment to prevent the withholding of food and water.
It sounds good right? Supposedly Gov. Bush would sign it into law, and he probably would.
This is basically a cop out by the legislature imo. Passing the buck around. More of the same ole, same ole.
Basic nutshell procedure:
A petition for constitutional amendment must be submitted by a PAC to the Div of Elections for approval.
Then a certain percentage of the population has to sign it. Must be handwritten sig, no online petitions for this.( I know the proposed Marriage Amendment petition needs about 611,000 sigs.)
When you have the required amount of sigs, then your petition goes to the Florida Supreme Court to be reviewed and held up to the "constitutional light".
If the FL Supremes ok it, then your petition can go on the ballot for a vote.
It's very difficult not to respond to personal attacks, and just plain vicious posts in general. I'll keep working on not responding ;)
I get a kick out of posters who bring a knife to a gunfight, and when they get their asses handed back to them, they run crying to the mods.
There are a lot of topics that I don't bother posting on. These threads are more about our futures as disposible human lives, than Terri. She dead now, but Scott Thomas is still alive. Anyone can end up in their situations, especially if you either have money, or are costing someone money. Love of money is the root of all evil. Judicial misconduct must be addressed in the strongest way possible.

He can't run again. His current term expires in 2010, and he will be 68 years old at that time. The Florida Constitution, Article V, Section 8, provides for the mandatory retirement of judges in the state of Florida when they reach the age of 70, unless they have completed more than half of their term of office (it which case they can serve it out and then face mandatory retirement).
If Judge Greer ran for reelection in 2010 and won, he would face mandatory retirement barely one year after the start of his new term of office (which would be 1/1/2011), when he turned 70 on 2/1/2012. The judicial term of office is 6 years, so just over a year into the term of office before turning 70 wouldn't create an exception for him to complete the term. It wouldn't be worth his time, effort and money to run a campaign for reelection when it only means just barely an additional year in office. Besides, in the State of Florida, many retired judges continue to serve (as fill-in for vacations and illnesses among the regular judges, and for special cases) if they wish, in the capacity of "Senior Judge."
Of course, who knows if Judge Greer will wish to continue work in the capacity of Senior Judge after he retires in 2010? He could even choose to take retirement before his current term of office is over but I would think that's unlikely.
And I agree with you about the petition, particularly considering how many of the signers are not from Florida and how many of the signatures have been deleted. This is not a petition that's going to hold any weight with the Florida House of Representatives...and that's the group that has the authority to impeach (after which the Florida Senate would have to have a "trial" on the charges). The Florida legislators are interested in what the majority of their constituents (the people living in the Florida districts they represent, and who elected them to office) want...and there's no evidence at all that the majority of the voters in Florida have any problem with Judge Greer, much less the voters in Pinellas and Pasco counties, who specifically elected him. In the history of Florida, no elected state judge has ever been removed from office via impeachment by the state legislature...of course, there's always a first time.
A month or so ago, when the state legislature was still in session for 2005 (they adjourned in early May), I happened to be visiting with my own district's state representative in his office, and I talked with him about the online petition to impeach Judge Greer (even brought the petition up on his office computer for him to see). Now this is a fellow who voted for "Terri's Law" in 2003, and voted again for the House Bill to save her in 2005 (although he said that he determined after the vote that his actual constituent mail was running 3-1 against it, and if he'd realized that, he would have voted against it). I asked him if he would support consideration of impeachment of Judge Greer, and he said, "Based on that online petition? Absolutely not."
But that doesn't mean that other Florida legislators might not see it differently, right?
But hopefully, Jim will continue to ferret out and zot a FINO or two per week that have turned with their bitterness to being anti-freerepublic on top of their previous 'issues'.

Yes, I would agree that is normally proper etiquette
BUT I have always guessed that most likely, JimRobinson is
the exception to that, as long as we aren't saying anything
objectionable ABOUT him.
Jim PROBABLY would get 20,000 pings a day by that rule,

There's always that odd chance, but since they couldn't garner up enough votes to save her life, it is doubtful they will pull together enough support to impeach the judge.
Some things simply have to be left to divine justice.
Darn it! THAT part is extremely distressing. So if the FL Supremes legislate from the bench and make up whole new laws out of thin air, and the citizens succeed in rounding up enough signatures, that very SAME FL Supremes can just say:
