Fascinating. Thanks for posting. I never knew what the Dome of the Rock was all about!

Now that I do know, I am full of respect for Islam and can definitely see why they should own part of Jerusalem. Absolutely. No question.

"Such is but one of many prohibitions enacted by Wahhabis against the traditions of classical Islam, which make moderate Muslims hate Wahhabism"

More taquia from the islamic apologists here at FR. In the end, they still pray to the same animal. You may bow down 5x a day to pray to that degenirate, but I will always point out what a career criminal he was.

Title should have read:

Since then, I have studied an important work of Shaykh al-Maliki, on the Night Journey of Muhammad -- an out-of-body experience in which the Prophet of Islam travelled to Jerusalem on a winged steed and then ascended to the heavens in the company of the Angel Gabriel.

The Night Journey and Ascension, known in Arabic as Laylat Al-Isra wa Al-Miraj, is a key element in the development of Muhammad's message and is also the basis for the Muslim claim to possession of a part of the Temple Mount in Jerusalem.

Well to be more accurate, this story is more of an out of his mind experience than and out of the body experience. It claims that Mohammad traveled to "the farthest mosque", a place never named. But Islam did not invade Israel and build a Mosque in Jerusalem till long after Mohammad died! It simply could not have been Jerusalem. If he was visiting a Mosque in Jerusalem, it would have had to been in the future. Now the mosques in Britain are much further than the mosque in Israel, and the mosques in America or the Bali for that matter are much farther than that. So one would have had to pick a certain date, and I think you cannot find any date that Jerusalem was farther away than the other conquests from Arabia. Nobody invaded Jerusalem until much later in the conquests because frankly there was little profit in it compared to much more lucrative areas to loot.

So this claim, like all claims by Muslims does not pass the thinest reality tests. But you gotta admit, Neither does Islam.

I guess if your in it for a swallow, might as well eat the whole Bull.

Moses told Muhammad, "I experienced the weaknesses of people before you did. I tested the Children of Israel… the people of your community are even weaker in their bodies and constitutions, in their hearts, in their sight, and in their hearing."

That explains a lot.
