Was Beth Gaddy stealing from Mae Magouirk?!?

Another aspect I find disturbing is that in the court filing A.B. McLeod claimed that Mae Magouirk told him, “Buddy, I have discovered that Beth is writing unauthorized checks on my account. I just can't trust her anymore at all. Would you please get with me and tell me what I need to do to have her removed from doing this. Also, I want to replace Beth and appoint you to have my power of attorney and to act on my behalf if I get sick.”

Mae's sister Lonnie Mullinax claimed that Mae told her, “Lonnie, I'm scared Beth is stealing money from my checking account. I have told Buddy already and ask [sic] him to please help me remove her from being able to do it. If you feel it's OK, I want to appoint Buddy as my guardian.”

Mae's nephew Ken Mullinax claimed that Mae told him, “Kenny, Beth is trying to make me give my car to Pat [Beth's mother] and I don't want to do this because I need it so my woman (her daily housekeeper) can take me to the beauty shop and my appointments. I told her no but she keeps bothering me about it and she's now treating me real mean. Charlie (Mae's deceased husband) and I bought Pat the house she lives in and even pay the property taxes on it. I would think that is enough but now this. What should I do?”

Also of interest is the run down of Mae's personal assets, totaling more than $120,000, which Beth and her brother stand to inherit if Mae dies.

SEAN HANNITY just announced he'd be talking about the Mae Magouirk case ("another situation like Terri Schiavo, in Georgia")

TONIGHT on Hannity/Colmes, Fox News Channel, 9 pm EDT

*bump*

The financial guardianship or financial POA matter is a future battle. The contentions of Buddy, Lonnie and Ken have not ben heard by the court, they are only allegations in a petition objecting to Gaddy being named emergency/temporary guardian.

I am confident that their counsel will prepare and present an appropriate case, if necessary. Now is not the right time.

I had some relatives who did the Beth Gaddy thing with my Great-uncle Herbert -- sucking up to him late in his life by "helping out" with little things.

I don't know if they stole from him, but it sure looked suspicious that they'd become suddenly so attentive.

Wish I'd been present at the reading of Great-uncle Herbert's will:
It turned out he'd left ALL his estate to the American Bible Society!

Smart old codger.

Isn't this exactly what those of us trying to save Terri Schiavo predicted would happen?

I'm also curious who printed up Mae's living will document whose wording differs subtly but significantly from the Georgia model form.

I am interested in the FACT that guards now keep Mae's nephew, sister and brother away from Mae as she recovers in a FOR REAL place of healing, a hospital under a cardiologists care.

Mae's sister is a patient there one floor below Mae with the same diagnosis..a family inherited disease with a dissection of the aorta which can be treated medically before it erupts and the patient bleeds to death.

Gaddy, the grand daughter opted for a HOSPICE where Mae would DIE without medical treatment (not to mention that she ordered the withholding of food and intravenous fluid while Mae was there!) instead of opting for a HOSPITAL for cardiac attention.

Oh yeah...what interests me and BOTHERS me terribly is when the VERY PEOPLE who are RESPONSIBLE for SAVING a life are DENIED access to their family member.

And where is PAT, Mae's DAUGHTER, in all of this? The one who lives in a home Mae BOUGHT for her and doesn't even have to pay the property taxes?

SOMETHING STINKS....and I think it is money...

$120,000?? Who but a deranged person would kill their grandmother for $120,000. Split between the brother and sister, it wouldn't last more than two years.

PAt must've been Mae's SON"S wife - she has no living children but had a son that died

maybe what's supposed to be in Mae's accounts is no longer there - and someone doesn't want to have to explain where it went...

Mae lives by herself and has a housekeeper that comes in daily and also takes her on errands and appointments - Gabby only did the financial end - has POA of finances to make out checks etc for Mae as she has glaucoma - she is not, as has been reported - been slaving away for ten years taking care of an invalided Mae -

The total assets are $118 grand in checking and savings, plus a house valued at $100,000 (per Gaddy, we have no appraisal), plus a piece of undeveloped property that had no value associated with it (might be worthless, or worth alot), plus a car and incidentals. Mae also has a $5,000 monthly income over and above Social Security. We don't know what generates that cash flow. It could be a pension that stops at her demise, or it could be stocks/bonds that are transferable on death.

Split between the brother and sister, it wouldn't last more than two years.

Even 50 grand is a good size windfall. I daresay half the population could be convinced to let grandma, or mom, or dad, or brother or sister, "go to Jesus" a little sooner. "Better than the money going to the hospital, eh?"

And so has human nature been since time immemorial.

Just a small %, but enough. Study the middle ages, for example - family slaughtering family, including children, to inherit monies and/or titles.

The Native Americans did not allow inheritance. They saw it as the danger it was. Lot of wisdom in some of the old Native American ways.

In the meantime, I'm glad I'm not rich. I don't have to worry about anyone waiting for me - or pushing me! - to die...well, at least not for material wealth ...
