In my days as a feminist, back in the 70's, I remember some proposal for taking all references to men out of words. "Women" would become "womyn", "they" would become "tey" (to remove the reference to "he"), and so forth.
Glad I got over the looney phase.

She gained minor notoriety Looks like she gained a lot more than that.

Sadly, DUmmie stevenumbers now crosses off the name of yet another woman who might have been desperate enough to go out on a date with him.

Andrea Dworkin had a huge impact on the debate over pornography. People asking for their money back?

a push was made to keep her outside the "mainstream" How many tugboats needed?

LOL - I guess in my DUmmies' case, it's only one on one so she needs a roommate! Go figure the liberals!
Can't blame Fred though, right? I couldn't use people, but the Libs have no shame. None.

The 1990s brought us full fledged liberal political correctness, which left us clunky phrases like "postal carrier" to replace the more efficient "mailman".
The situation was notable enough that the "word substitution" that every American was wrestling with became the source of much satire (e.g. "PC fairytales"). Censorship of the mind, lest we be called a horrible person.

getting into bed, politically, with right wing fundies Accepting the phrase metaphorically, you mean there was something to like about this woman? Would it be the common opposition (although perhaps for different reasons) to pornography?
I am not familiar with her body of work.
So to speak.

The left will eat their own when it doesn't serve their purpose. Witness how Democrats treat Lyndon LaRouche, Jospeh Lieberman, and Zell Miller?
It is not that they disagree with all of these people (or particularly support Al Sharpton's ideas), they just play an image game of "good cop"/"bad cop". The tent isn't all that big and underneath you will find a lot of groups who can't stand each other. The DNC has to be careful what they say to one constituency, make sure that it is said with a wink and a nod, no cameras rolling, and not quotes in the paper. Wouldn't want to offend some of their other supporters.
It is why Kerry's campaign was a farce. Flip flops, waffles, and doublespeak.

I think I saw her once on Politically Incorrect just after it moved to ABC.
She wore bib overhauls and other then being rather uncomely, she seemed very emotionally immature and unbalanced.
I didn't remember her name but her appearance is not easily forgettable.
It's possible I saw another extremely unattractive woman who is also some sort of radical and appears on TV in bib overhauls, but I'm pretty sure it's the same person.

I fully embrace the "women's movement" . . . titular head . . .
OK now, these are getting too easy. C'mon, people, where is the challenge?!
To: KentTrappedInLiberalSeattle
OK, you did the "embrace" joke, but you put a little originality into your response. Therefore no penalty.
