Pretty bad, but not as bad as Helen Thomas.
Ewwwww! The other picture must have been after her plastic surgery and on a good day.
True, but she among the emotionally imature and unbalanced, she stood out.
DU really should be in morning, she's what they aspire to.
And don't forget things like "wait staff" rather than <*gasp*> "waitress".
I always hear waitresses called servers.
Ya gotta hug one side and measure it off and then go around and hug the other side.
I had a friend of mine in the 80's actually trace the origin of "woman" and she found out it is NOT derivative of "man" but rather descends down from "womb" and "menos" (monthly) [big time summary there -- her research paper was 20 pages]. It is one of those oddities of language that "man" and "woman" landed in Emglish as they did.
She LOVED to throw that in the faces of the feminists and make them look as stupid as they were.
I hope you have your affairs in order. And no jury (outside of SF) would ever convict.
She undoubtedly subscribed to the old feminist adage: A woman without a man is like a fish without a bicycle.
Slogans are OK until reality hits you in the face.
Hah! Great story. They probably didn't realize that "gender neutralizing" removes the power from most, if not all, of the stories in the Bible because the lessons often get lost in the process. We water the Bible down at our own peril.
"A puff of rainbow-colored smoke will come out the chimney, and the announcement will be made: Habemus hagam, 'We have a hag.'
ROTFL!
I was not aware of that, and had I been confronted with that information back in the 70's, I probably would have been very dismissive (but would have still looked stupid).
That, too. :-)
I agree -- R.I.P. Andrea Dworkin.
Florence King had an addendum to one of her books praising her for her stance against porn in Letters from a War Zone, a collection of essays denouncing "port shops and cheaters showing 'snuff' movies in which women are raped and tortured." In that book, Dworkin attacked the ACLU for its "monomaniacal" defense of free speech (snuff films!) and its "'radical boy lawyers' who are 'afraid that feminists are going to take their dirty pictures away from them'."
This is probably the basis for DU's claim of her "getting into bed, politically, with right-wing fundies." (Someone should let Florence King know she's a "fundie" -- I'm sure she'd get a laugh out of it!)
Look, look, I can speak feminist.... This derivation still shows the oppressive influence of the overbearing male culture, indicating the female of the species was defined purely in terms of her childbearing and menstruation role. The term "woman" just shows how womyn have been subjected to patriarchal linguistic oppression, i.e., she was even defined by her menstrual cycle. But wait... what about this "menstrual" cycle. Maybe it should be called "personstrual" cycle instead. Yes, it comes from "menses" meaning month, but it still sends a bad message.
See, I'm just practicing for someday if I get bold enough to go undercover on DU.
Huggin and a chalkin. There was a song about that, don't know the era. Something about huggin and chalkin and met a guy coming around the other way.
Just e-mail her the links to the DUFUs.
