Ive been watching with great interest the Minuteman Project that has been developing in Arizona. This is a project to organize American citizens to patrol our border with Mexico. This isnt some U.S. Border Patrol initiative, like the Civil Air Patrol which is an auxiliary of the U.S. Air Force, but a civilian initiative to protect our border.
It is obvious that the Border Patrol is incapable, as currently organized, of protecting and defending our sovereignty from the mad rush of illegals that swarm over our southern border. Since President Bush has made it clear he isnt interested in protecting our country, citizens have taken matters into their own hands. I say, Good for them.
Unfortunately for these patriotic citizens, neither the Mexicans nor the U.S. government want them taking part in defending their country. Hispanic gangs have been issuing threats of violence towards the Minutemen, and the Border Patrol is trying to discourage their actions as well.
As far as the gangs are concerned, what else would you expect? These are criminals who dont want any interference with their transportation of their illegal human cargo. Personally, I think the Minutemen should be prepared to meet any force from these thugs with like force. After all, its the Hispanic gangs that are breaking the law, and the Minutemen who are defending our country from this invasion.
Anyone with half a brain would expect the Border Patrol to at least nominally be on the side of the Minutemen. But what kind of comments do we get from the Border Patrol? Here are a few quotes from Andy Adame of the U.S. Border Patrol in Tucson:
"People are going to get hurt."
Many of these volunteers don't know what they're in for.
"When you have untrained civilians, that are armed, that are out in the middle of the desert, in the middle of the night, in the dark, and they meet up with one of these smuggling organizations ... you're going to have a gun fight."
"Bringing untrained civilians into this border environment is a recipe for disaster."
While I recognize Mr. Adame may be more of an authority on border issues than myself, due to the governments refusal to seriously address our immigration problems I am prone to think these comments are born more out of a resentment of the Minutemen due to the fact their actions highlight the Border Patrols failures. If Mr. Adame doesnt want to see these patriots stand up for their country, then the Border Patrol needs to do a better job.
In fact, the state and federal governments as a whole need to do a better job. In general, politicians and law enforcement officials have shown almost a calloused indifference to the problems associated with illegal immigration. For at least the last ten years the majority of Americans have been screaming for the feds to do something about out of control illegal immigration. The response has been to offer repeated amnesties or turn a blind eye to the problem.
Border Patrol officials say there has been a growing level of violence in recent years along the border. What do they expect? This is literally a war that is taking place! We are being invaded, and our federal government refuses to carry out its constitutional duty and defend us!
These Hispanic gangs are not just linked to human smuggling; they smuggle in drugs and arms (And who would those arms be for? The army of illegals within our midst perhaps?), and they are linked to South American terrorist groups as well as Islamic terrorist groups. This is all information the U.S. government admits they know about, and yet refuse to boost the number of Border Patrol agents sufficient to address the problem (thanks again President Bush).
If we truly live in a land of the rule of law, and not the rule of men, then our elected officials need to act on their oaths of office and defend the rights of the citizens and our sovereignty. They should also remember that when a people are pushed too far, they will rise up to defend their rights themselves. If G.W. Bush and his big-business neo-con cohorts dont wake up, they will find themselves in a fight with the very citizens that elected them. And the American citizens will find themselves caught in a two-front war, between the U.S. government and Mexico, as the Mexican government is aggressively attempting to undermine U.! S. citizens actions to organize and defend our borders through political pressure on the Bush White House, and through our courts and international courts as well.
If George W. Bush had an ounce of integrity, hed honor his oath of office and increase the numbers in our Border Patrol to levels adequate to handle the situation, have the Department of Justice pursue and prosecute companies that hire illegals, and cut out this cancer of over 10 million illegals within our society. In addition, Bush would support, rather than constantly trying to undermine, the bills being submitted to Congress that enhance the enforcement of our laws against illegals and their abuse of fraudulent ID papers. But then it appears as if it is only the citizens that care about the rule of law. Understand something: if the average rank and file citizen has to take time off from making a living and patrol our borders to defend o! ur country, our border issues are out of control, no matter what any idiot in D.C. says. Remember this when the next election comes around for your Congressman, Senator, and yes, President. Pick someone who will defend our borders, our sovereignty and our Constitution. There are only a handful of representatives in Congress that do this right now, and they need help.

<< He's been re-elected and our opinions no longer matter when it comes to immigration and border issues. >>
You mean they ever did?
Must have slipped by me.
I would bet that if we checked the financial donation forms for the OBL and all those orgs. that are setting off those color coordinated revolutions across the world we would find considerable cross breeding between the two. So when is America's "revolution" planned by these "democrats?"
Unfortunately, George Bush wants an America where these Hispanic gangs are free to do what they want to do. It is the American citizens who want to save the country from invasion, that Bush sees as his enemy.
On the now removed thread, ScudBud had mentioned that he heard the leader of the project, a decorated veteran, on the radio responding to Bush's comment and he was near tears at the betrayal.
Jim Gilchrist has put a mountain of work into the project and has repeatedly stated a policy of total noninterference towards the illegals that will be spotted. The Americans that are on the border are grateful that someone, anyone is finally going to, in the spirit of American teamwork, provide a measure of help.
For this, he is branded a racists/vigilante/hunter blah blah... Now to get SHAFTED by GWB, I understand the level of frustration. BUT, there are 1,200 Americans that he will be meeting with one week from tomorrow that will refresh his spirit and make him proud to BE an American again.

It seems neither the Republicans or rats care who you vote for. They believe you, and those who think like you, are not a sufficient voting block or that gaining your vote will cost more votes than ignoring you. I think they are right.
